Rough Idle after MD spacer Install- HELP
Hello All!
I installed my 5"16 spacer but the car isn't running right. It starts fine and idles ok for about 30 seconds at the normal range 750-850 but then drops to 480-500ish and almost stalls before it trys to get back to normal.
Also I was expecting more of a boost from this upgrade...could the idle issue be affecting my performance?
I did the ECU reset and the throttle relearn...but the problem still persists.
Any ideas on how to fix...and should I be expecting more of a boost in power?
Thanks!
(ps I got the isothermal copper spacer)

Normal idle is @ ~600. You either have a vacuum leak (loose hose) or probably have enough breathing mods to give you a rough idle... although it seems you're having a bigger issue than just a "rough" idle.
Check all the hoses & make sure there isn't any leaks.
Also, if you have enough breathing mods, I suggest you get your idle raised. My idle was rough due to my breathing mods (intake, spacer, exhaust, test pipes). I got my idle raised from 600 (stock) to 850 and it idles so much better.

Thanks for the info!! I have a dual exhaust, Intake (and spacer now). Does "too many" breathing mods reduce performance...(too much of a good thing is bad?)...just curious

Getting a tune/flash will improve your performance much more. It's definately something you should look into (get your idle raised while your at it too).

Cuz if you bolt down the middle too hard it will bring up the sides and you will have a leak and it will cause your idle to be all over the place.

still do not tongue the middle at all.
Cuz spacer only goes around the plenum. Middle bolts don't get any spacer. So there is a space between the plenum and the engine. So if you torque them down to the specs you still will raise the sides cuz middle is not being pressed against nothing.

My car idles around @ ~450/500. I have the 5'16" plenum spacer, K&N filter w/ Z-tube, and FI exhaust.
The funny thing is that my idle before I installed the spacer was already at ~450/500. Is that normal? But when I turned the heat on my idle would raise to ~850/900 (before spacer install, and same when spacer install).
Also, after installing the spacer, on a cold start it idles at around ~1100 but then after the car warms up it drops down to ~450/500, is that normal?
Thanks for any responce.

You didn't have to re-install it, install it again and just keep driving it. Let the computer learn, after I install my test pipes my idle was low, sometimes it won't even start, stalls at start up, too much air flowing through from all my breathing mods. Just drive it around and the ecu will learn it's idle, and then where it idles at after, wether it's 500 or 600, that's its new idle where it stables, don't worry, just drive you'll be fine, in the future you can raise the idle/ get a ecu re-flash tune
