Re: increase airflow to stock airbox mod pic

notice in sound? you bet! the subtle stock growl turns into a howl around 4k+, but keep in mind i have the k&n filter and z-tube though

someone did this mod with the stock intake tube and noticed a similiar result, but just probably not as loud as mine.

Re: increase airflow to stock airbox mod pic

What you've done makes sense in increasing the intake air available, and I've thought about doing the same thing, but I was going to fabricate a replacement piece for the 'Power Duct' which I think needs to maintain an effective seal against the hood to maximize the 'ram-air' effect. Infiniti put a lot of thought into using the foam and rubber gaskets for this reason. At minimum, I was going to heat and re-shape the Power Duct to smooth out and widen the opening.

Also I thought about running a intake tube to replace the resonator to suck in air from the bottom rather than just removing it, again, with the 'pressurizing effect' when the car is in motion. I got side-tracked when I put in my Pop-Charger and winter, so Kudos for doing this first! Looks good though.

I haven't yet decided whether to re-install my Pop-Charger, or do the above. In theory of course, the larger surface area of the P-C filter would benefit even more, so I may look at doing a modded box for the Pop-Charger (with all that free time I have available)

Re: increase airflow to stock airbox mod pic

were're on the same wavelenght with regards to adding an intake tube to the bottom, thereby creating an even "pressurizing effect".....when i have more time, i'll be taking that one step further by widening that bottom opening to accept the oem intake tube that's sitting in my garage. whoah, double ram effect!
sidenote: it's the "oscai" version of the intake mod for those who came from maxima.org.

Re: increase airflow to stock airbox mod pic

view from top

theres two of those plastic screw/rivets thingy under the plastic sealer......use flat head screwderiver, it'll pop right off.....then remove/peel sealer from the power duct piece and reposition it onto the airbox, done. enjoy.

Re: increase airflow to stock airbox mod pic

Hmmm. My Power Duct has the other type of fastener. Use the tip of a pointed tool or phillips screwdriver to push down on the center, and the fastener lifts right off.

Does anyone have the pics of the modified stock airbox mentioned in this thread that they can post or email me?

Thanks!
