I was looking to purchase a 05'06 G35 Coupe 6mt but now I am having second thoughts because of this oil consumption issue. My cousin had a 05 auto coupe and a friend had a 04 6mt. Neither one of them had an oil issue.

It seems like almost every 05-06 6mt is having an oil issue. Is there anyone with a 05-06 6mt not going through this issue? Does the oil consumption issue affect the car in the long run? Is the engine consuming oil excessively while doing no harm to the engine?

How can I tell if the 05-06 G35 I'm about to purchase is having this problem? Is there any way I can check through VIN #'s what work has been done to the vehicle? I will Carfax the car, is there any way I can get a hold of Infiniti service records?

I was going to hold off and wait to get a 1-2 year old G37 but I don't want to deal with multiple bugs and TSB. I also feel like the g37 will go through the same oil consumption issues.

I really like the G35 and have been wanting one for a while. I never knew about the oil consumption issue and now it's throwing me off.
