changed oil with 5.75 qts?

Too much? I know the most popular number is 5qts. but I dumped in 5.75 qts while changing the oil today and I know the dip stick is difficult to read sometimes, but i'm fairly certain that it is only a little below the Full mark.

What's the avg you all are dumping in your G's? 5.75 too much?

Oil change with filter is 5qts.
Oil change with no filter is 4 5/8qts.

Mine always goes to F mark with 5qts and filter change.

That info is in your manual under 'techincal and consumer information' section. Sub cat 'capacities and recommended fuel/lubricants'.

Are you using an oversized oil filter? I run one in both my car and truck, and it increases the vehicles oil capacity by a good 1/4 of a quart.

It's 5 quarts even when you use an oem-sized filter, unless you have a bigger oil pan or something.

sorry guys, i totally forgot, i ran about half a qt through my motor after i drained my oil just to run out some extra bad oil, so really I only dumped in 5.25, around that number, so i'm fine. Sorry for the trouble.

You should realize that going with a little less oil is better than going with too much. worry when you are a quart short, but if you overfill with a quart, you run the risk of permanently damaging your engine.
