problems with starting my car, battery issue?

I have an 04 coupe, thats been sittin in the garage for awhile... i have a yellowtop optima battery for it as my main battery. I don't drive the car often. But I manage to start it up often as i can to let the engine run. Well finally today after I jump started my car and got her running. I backed it out to the driveway for a wash. I was curious to see if the car would start again, cause usually its fine after i jump start it. This time it wont start up at all. I tried to jump start it again and it had trouble even wanting to start up. So I decide to let the car rest for a bit and then tried again. Finally the car started. I am worried. Do I need a new battery? I tried taking the car out for a drive for around 30-45 minutes after that last successful jumpstart to let the battery charge up. Drove it home and let turned off the engine. Two hours later I attempted to start my car. It won't start up. I never had this problem before. I was told that the yellowtop optima batteries are capable of handling a lot of jumpstarts before it gives out. In total I must've jump started my car about 10-20x within the past 2 years. I don't drive the car much at all.

Do you guys have any recommendation on what the problem may be and what I should do? Is there anyway to see if its my battery thats about to reach the end of its lifecycle. I would like to see if there is someway I can fully recharge it back if possible. I would hate to buy another battery.

The Yellowtop is a good strong battery. I keep my G35 on a battery tender if I don't drive it at least once a week. They are cheaper than a new battery and work great.

i was looking into getting a battery tender plus. Do you think that will fix the problem? I mean by battery wont even hold a charge even after its jumped. I hope my battery isn't damaged and dead.

Which battery tender do I get? Do I get the 12volt 1.25amp battery tender plus? Will this work for optima yellow top batteries as well as the stock battery that comes with our cars?

How long would it take to fully charge my battery from a drained state? I really hope its my battery and not my alternator. Is there anyway I can check my battery to see if its fixable? I do have a multimeter laying around somewhere.

I got the Battery Tender Plus from Amazon. It worked fine on my Red Top. I've used it on all of our cars. I had a dead battery on my work car and in a few hours it was charged. Not sure about your other questions.

ok i bought the battery tender plus, and it fully recharged my battery (so it says, the solid green light stays lit and red light off). So I disconnected the alligator clips off my battery, decided to start the car, and all I get is clicking noises! Sigh... is there something else wrong with my car? I mean the only way i can start it, is if i do a jump start.

I have a digital multimeter and took that out and tapped into the battery's + and - posts to get a reading. It reported 11.22v

I have an optima yellowtop battery.

Another thing I've observed is. i hear this weird sizzling noise coming from the battery. I'm worried.

You need a new battery. I have had my car and a friends car not start and just make clicking noises, they both had dead batteries.

you positive that will fix my problem? I don't know why my optima battery isn't holding up. It says its a good battery and will hold up and be able to jump start it many times w/o dying.

I just don't want to get a new battery to find out that the problem still exists. But if you are positive based on what i described. I will go for it.

Can I get one at sears? Please recommend me of a place.

Bring you battery to your local auto parts store , ask to have it charged and tested. If its bad , bring the battery to an optima dealer and have it warrentied out. It will still cost you a few bucks, but not as much as a new one.
