so infiniti charges $200 for this job? why so much? Im going to tell them it takes 30-45min for both belts. I will pay max $60 Sometimes i wonder if they really change the parts and give you 100% new stuff. Oil changes, tranny flush who knows.

 

I think they are trying to make profit on top of all the other costs they are incurring, so it becomes a $200 job.

 

just buy a belt tension gauge and do it yourself, it's SO easy.

 

My AC belt broke at 48k miles.
I replaced both belts myself in 45 minutes. One of the easiest things to do on this car, easier than replacing the spark plugs IMO.

 

my service advisor said they should be changed every 30K miles. The cost is minimal ($30 or so bucks for both drive belt and AC belt) and the task is fairly simple. My Infiniti dealer asked for only $150 to change both belts with labor.

 

My A/C belt popped at just under 29K miles and the car was 1.5 years old. Now I have gatorbacks

 

what is the most should i pay to get the alternator and ac belt changed? Infiniti just told me about $250, but they said they could prob take 15% off. I know that seems alot considering belts are only about $15 each. Do i need to get OEM infiniti belts or can i go anywhere like monroe? I got 55k miles now and they said they are cracking.

 

I have 89k on my 03 g35 and I have never replaced any belts. My AC belt might have be replaced when it started to blow out warm air but this was fixed under warranty so I would have to check the record.

 

Dealer just charged me the following on 3/21/09:

labor: $96.50
Belt-compressor - 11920 - AG900 $24.98
Belt - Fan & Alternator - 11720 -4p102 $26.37
chemicals/cleaners $5 Whatever that was
total: $152.67

done at 49,500 mi---yes I could have got it done cheaper somewhere else or tried doing it myself but that was a fair price for somehthing that I won't need to do for another 6 years or longer.

btw, I'm submitting a $50 reabate thru loyalowner.com and the total cost should be $102

 

how can i get it for that price in my area for 150? i just got oil change there to do the loyalowner thing.

 

The labor rate should be the same, parts should be the same. Have you called for a quote from your dealer?

As for the loyalowner.com, infiniti mailed me a rebate, per the FAQ:

Do you think its cheaper than $150 if i just go to a local auto shop and they probably get the belts from NAPA? I thought this would be very cheap to do.

 

Get the belts from your parts store and if you dont have the tools go to a local repair shop

I cant see them charging more than $100 labor
