Serpentine belt replacement

When should one get them changed? what mileage? Obviously if i got the serpentine changed then i would also get a new ac belt. How long do these take? How much does infiniti charge?

I changed both the A/C and power steering drive belts at 45K miles. You'll know they most likely need to be changed when you hear a squealing in the belt area after engine start-up (which gradually goes away after a couple min warm-up time).

i am at 62k on stock belts but haven't heard any abnormal noise like ur describing. Should i still change them or wait for the noise to come up?

im at 45k and do not hear anything yet. when i do turn on the heat, i can hear a whirling/squeaking noise slightly, so it must be the belt. i guess i will change them when they rip and i need to call AAA

The belts (same design, layout) on my prior VQ30 had over 100K miles and never needed replacing. The ribs will crack and that is entirely acceptable. When peices of the ribs start to fall off is when you should consider replacement. I've never heard of a belt snapping on a VQ30 or VQ35.

belts came off VQ30 a couple of times that i've heard.

i'm currently used car shopping and i've seen belts crack on every g35 i've looked at and its mainly 04 models with 48-66k miles. its more wear on the right inner belt. As i remember the inner belt was just the PS belt on my VQ30.

The AC belt broke on my 2003 G35 at about 92,000 miles. I bought the car used, so I have no idea if the belt was a factory belt. I suspect it was.

ok i got a longgg way to go then! Use it until it breaks then the car will sieze up me going on the highway. What would honestly happen if your belt broke while driving?

Anything being driven by the belt will stop working. It's not worth waiting until the belt snaps on you on the freeway. Taking a turn going 80mph with no powersteering on the freeway is no fun. Ask me how I know.

Really they're only about $30 for both. I got mine from Riverside Infiniti. There's even a DIY somewhere on here. I think the dealership wanted something like $200 to replace both. It's one of those jobs that requires more time to get ready for it than actually replacing them.

On Riverside Infiniti they are listed under:
Maintenance & lubrication - Engine service - belts & pulleys

Alternator belt, g35 $14.76
Ac belt, g35 $12.70

They are listed as the correct belts for '03-'07 model years.
Hope this helps.

how long does it honestly take to install alternator and ac belt. I can imagine the ac belt takes much longer, dont they have to take things apart to get to it.

When I got the belts done, it took about 30-45 min to do both belts. It makes life a lot easier if you get the car on the lift as you'd be working between the engine and the radiator.

Here's the DIY for the coupes that I used. Basically the same for the sedan. It takes about 30-45 minutes as lexusk8 said.
