my oil change questiosn... 15w40 alright?

I picked up some mobile 1 high performance oil (for high performance vehicles) and its 15w40. I live in florida so it almost never gets cold... i also picked up a fram tough guard oil filter... do these seem alright? or should i switch the oil out for something more along the lines of 10w40 or 0w40?

i would say that you should stay within factory recommendations for oil. 15 weight oil doesn't circulate as fast as 10 weight oil on cold start (not temperature related). also,, you reduce hp by increasing viscous drag in the engine.

Why you want to use such a thick 50w for? Use the viscosities recommened in your manual. Then buy a quality oil in those weights.

5w30 is recommended across the board. if you live in warmer temperatures, you can substitute 10w30. the number in front of the w is cold viscosity, and the second number is operating temp. viscosity.

5w30 oil, and get rid of the Fram filter...it's a piece of junk. You will read about it in the big oil thread that was previously mentioned. Mobil makes a good filter for our car, it's priced about the same as the Fram TG you just bought too.
