Exclamation only option is NISMO??

ok so im looking to upgrade my diff.. i looked all over the internet and found quite a few for the G35.. then i noticed that most say only for 6MT.. i own a 5AT.. now the car will be getting ALOT of work done including built trans so i thought.. "hhmmmn, yeah, i should mos def upgrade the diff" so im getting a better diff cover that cools the diff and now i need a diff.. 2 websites say that the NISMO 1.5 is the only one that can fit the 5AT.. which is ok.. i just wanna make sure is all..

If your fine with the Nismo then go for it....But what you relle should do is sell the 5AT and get yourself a 6MT...problem solved

It's not actually the automatic transmission that causes the diff to be special, it's the rear end gears associated with cars with the automatic transmission. Most automatics come with a 3.3 final drive ratio and the ring gear is thicker (or thinner, I can't remember) and the diff is built different to allow for this.

You can run any diff you want, but you'll have to switch to the lower gear sets. Most people swapping diffs want a lower gear any way. Maybe go with a nice 3.7 or so.

You might also need different stub axles...

Then you can get any kind of diff you want. I have a Carbonetics in my G and really like it.

Here's a link to the Carbonetics diff on Z1 Auto.

http://www.z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?m...ne&prodid=2106

Check out that link and the other diff links on that site. They have a lot of good information in them. If you get serious, give Adam at Z1 Auto a call. He's a good guy and understands these cars inside out.

quaife.

Instead of a clutch type differential, it's a Automatic Torque biasing differential. It's a direct drop in for the 5AT's rear diff. It's what I'm saving my money for. Lifetime warranty, and it's supposedly smoother than most of the others. Search for it on here there are some really good reviews.

Quaife and 3.7 FD here... expensive but very good.

Look into AutoTech’s version of ATB LSD (Quaife units aren’t easily available in the US anymore)... AutoTech is the US rep for Quaife and they are making their own unit similar to Quaife but it addresses the open diff scenario of one wheel in air (research Quaife to know what I'm referencing)

Bottom line - if I was looking right now - I'd be looking at AutoTech's Wavetrack differential and Nissan OEM 3.692 ring and pinion gear set.

happy modding!
