Aftermarket tachometer

Ok so I asked before about a specific tach I was looking at but am getting no answers.

So, does anyone out there use an aftermarket tach with shift warnings? If so which ones? I've read about people having function problems on certain ones. Have they been worked out?

That was another thought but I ran across some autometer DPSS Tachs that are 2 1/16 inches in diameter with built in LED shift lights. I could mount it in an the a pillar with a regular gauge pod, which would still be a nice clean install IMO. I guess the thing is that I've read about people having problems with aftermarket tachs so I wanted to see what people have been using that worked.

I don't think many people put aftermarket Tachs in G's. Maybe if you're going to strip it down and make it a racer...

Not so much strip it down, but Hopefully in a month or two I'll have a supercharger in, and its basically to warn me from over revving. Its not something that happens a lot, I've just done it a few times while NA accidentally. I'd set the light to go off 2 or 300 rpms before redline to give me a precautionary warning that I'm about to screw up.

Have you seen the DPSS in action? How bright is it? I looked at the KP technologies one but I wanted something a little more than a single LED.

That single LED is brighter than you'd think. There is no missing it when it flashes at you.

The KP tech has a video of it on their website.

Have you seen the DPSS in action?
Not personally. Have seen a video though, search autometer DPSS on you tube.

LOL KP's website seems to be down. I'm at work and can't youtube. Anyone happen to have a pic of how bright the KP LED can get? I'm looking for bright enough to notice even when turning back to check lanes before a lane change.
