Ok.... I just called the infiniti dealer and asked about the powertrain warranty and also mentioned that i am the 2nd/3rd owner of the vehicle. They said NATIONWIDE the powertrain warranty covers 6 years 70k miles. That means all u have to do is drive to any infinti problem and ask for a mechanic to ride with u and show that the when u shift to 2nd gear it grinds. After that they will give a rental for a week and u will come back and pick the car up with new tranny.

Good Luck.... sometimes all it takes is just a simple phonecall and luckily i was just bored at work and did that for you.

Wow I really appreciate it. Not to be a pain in the *** but I don't wanna sound like I don't know what I'm talking about when I call them back. The powertrain comes with ALL infinitis? What's the point of having a standard warranty if all have powertrain? The service guy I spoke with said I didn't have the powertrain and the standard wasn't valid anymore!

Power train covers Tranny/Engine only! The regular warranty covers everything else such as window rattles and stereo. I don't know about all infintis but i know it comes with 2003 and up for sure.

Ohhh I'm an idiot. So I guess ill go to infinit and talk to them about that and if they say they can't do anything about it I can yell at them right? I dunno what that other guy was talking about. And if they will fix it I'd much rather go to them compared to the place I got it from

I don't know if I would yell at them. That gets no where. Just tell then the fact, the tranny is messed up and it is under the warranty and you want it fixed. Be a man and stand your ground, don't be a jerk and yell.

They should not give u any trouble when u actually get to the dealership. If they do, ask to speak to the manager and if that does not work tell them ur next trip to this dealer will be with an attorney and 100% of the time that works.

Good luck

I would suggest taking a guy with u.... No offence. I had to almost blow up the dealership once years ago when i was 18-19 years old for a problem that they refused to fix. If they tried to fool me being a young man, i wouldn't be surprised if they did the same to you in a more extreme way. After that incident they are on their tippy toes every time i enter the dealership.

Oh sweet. Well I think I'm gonna go to infiniti tomorrow to talk to them cause I would much rather have it fixed by infiniti than a random mechanic. If not I guess I have to go back to the place I got it from :/ I really appreciate all your help!

there is no way they can refuse to fix your transmission no matter what it is. A powertrain warranty is standard on ALL g35s for 6 year/70k miles. like i stated before, i only had 50k miles on my 03 and had the same time of transmission problem and when I told them what was wrong, they replaced everything for free under the powertrain. like Klubbs said, the powertrain covers engine/transmission up to 70k or 6 years.

yea i guess. seems like a lot of people have had that problem fixed. when i called another inifinit dealership last night the service people were gone so i spoke to some woman and she said since the car is manual it gets more complicated. they have to decide whether its a wear thing or if its abuse? which makes sense i guess. but they should at least give agree to look at the car and give me a free lender while its being looked at no?
