Could be that your alternator isn't able to charge the battery quick enough when the amp draws all that power. Just curious, do you have an aftermarket sound system installed, if so, what's the RMS power rating on the amp?

I have a JL 10W7 hooked up to a JL 500/1 amp, and even that I have connected to a Rockford Fosgate cap and when a big note hits, I notice the needle in the speedometer jumps up a little bit.

If you have the stock battery, make sure the water levels are not low. Not sure if this is the problem, but can't hurt.

The stereo may not be the problem at all. It may just be that your battery is going out and the alternator is pushing all it can just to power the motor and charge the battery a little.

i think i have a one year old battery in there i'm not sure, but isn't the battery just for starting the car, dosen't the alternator take care of everything once the car is running?

If the alternator is functioning properly and all 3 sections are creating equal current [3 phase system]..............common for alternators to overheat and lose [blow open] a diode and 33% of capacity disappears............then overtax the other 2 causing total failure soon after...............applies to all brands of alternators generically = how they fail.

A properly functioning battery is necessary to smooth the alternator output otherwise you get ripples in waveform and whines in sound system.
