Are Drive Belts covered under warranty

Does anyone know if drive belts are covered under the manufacturer's warranty? I had a squealing sound coming from the engine and brought my car to the dealership. Now they are telling me that my drive belts need to be replaced and it will cost $180.

Anybody know?

No they are not. They are a wear item like clutch, tires, etc.

Thanks man. Is it common that these need to be replaced? I only ask because the car only has 30,000 miles on it and I haven't seem much mention of them on the boards.

Thanks again for your reply.

if one or both of your drive belts has snapped it is considered warrantable, but at that point you will probably be over the 60K

I'll have to check this out. Are you installing yourself or bringing it to someone?

Not sure if they're cracked or not but there is a high pitch squeal coming from the engine. I probably need to replace them soon and it's getting pretty annoying listening to that sound but definitely don't want to pay $180 to have it done.

the g is notorious for belt squeeling. It gets loose quite often and needs to be tightened

Never had that problem with mine except when I had my Stillen SC. Otherwise I have installed 3 sets of belts and then re-tighten a couple days later. That's it.
