the surge chip says it adjusts the A/F and advances timing... the problem is every car is different and breather mods will determine what A/F adjustments need to be made - so what A/F ratio is this chip set to and how much timing is advanced?

OP, you're better off having these settings (and more) done from an ECU flash.

The ecu is fully capable of making those adjustments on its own. That's what the sensors are there for

the ECU will adjust in a negative manner in lean condition resulting from some breather mods... when I added HFC (to intake, exhaust, TBS, plenum spacer) the A/F was lean and the ECU pulled timing to prevent knock - the car was a slug... the ECU wont "adapt" to those types of things... you need to program it (or re-flash).

This "surge performance chip" advertises that it will adjust A/F and advance timing... but doing either of those things without dyno tuning or real time tuning from driving wont give optimal performance and theoretically could cause problems (if it advances too much timing or leans out the A/F)

1. you get what you pay for
2. Poor quality "chips" or programers are obviously tuned poor
3. poor/ incorrect tuning can lead to faliure, electronics are very sensitive and sensors or the ecu can be affected.
4.i wouldnt attemp using it just because of the low price, my opinon on this is no $100 "mod" is worth ruining my car that will lead to $1000's of repair electronics in our cars arent cheap to repair.
(edit) haha i just looked at the website for the chip Up to 35 horsepower to the wheels, guys forget doing the exhaust, intake spacer, headers, test pipe, and intake manifold, this chip will give more horsepower then all those bolt-ons combined. haha sorry but i dont buy their claims, but someone should order this and try it.

This looks like the resistors they sell on ebay to make the MAF think the car is running lean.

The Chip works i installed it yesterday its a big increase in power it was annoying to put on but once you understood how to do it it was pretty straight forward. It involved cutting 2 wires which go to the MAF sensor. but believe them when it says 35 hp increase cause after putting it in i surely believe it. only down side is when you have the **** increased to max power your gas mileage is a joke. have fun going to the gas station a couple times a day to fill up depending on how you drive. otherwise its good !
