yeah don't overtighten. They will snap and leave you stranded.

After the crazy amount of rain we got over the past 2 days, my squeek has came back stronger than ever. Seems to go away above 2,500rpm. I gotta get this fixed. So annoying and embarrasing.

I can turn the A/C belt over 90 degrees. I can turn the P/S belt just about 90 degrees. The belts still squeak when I start off from a stop. I'm guessing the only solution here would be to change bolt tensioners??????????

I took the A/C belt completely off and still notice a squealing after I accelerate from stops. I don't really want to tighten the belt any more. This is hard to diagnose because it doesn't happen very often, but when it does it's VERY embarrassing!

mine happens everyday after the car is warmed up. If the weather is wet out, it squeels a lot. If it's dry, it's low but not ear piercing. Odds are we both need new belts. I'm procrastinating bringing it into the shop to get it fixed, but I should soon. It's annoying and makes me feel like the car is a piece of crap

That's what I was thinking. There are two idler pulleys on the bigger belt, only one is adjustable. I'm just scared to replace the adjustable one and it turns out to be the static pulley, or none at all (a more serious problem).

For those who replaced an idler pulley, what one was it? And was it making any screeching noses?

Replaced the alternator side idler pulley today and I still have a high-pitched squeaking noise. The belt is brand new from the dealer and tight. Seems like it might be coming from the power steering or alternator pulley, so I'm going to look into the FSM.

I also notice it might only happen when I have the climate control on. Which is STRANGE...

My 03 is acting the same as well. I'm going to change the belts when I can, and see if it helps.
