Re: Polished Heads.
By its self, I would venture to say neglibible. It would be slightly more efficient and cleaner burning, though. But, it would likely greatly assist other flow mods, like intake, headers, plenum, exhaust, etc.
Re: Polished Heads.
Penta Roof 4 valve heads are pretty well optimized from the factory [that's why they are 15%-20% more efficient at flowing air than domestic 2 valve heads].
How they get 260-280-295 HP from 214 cubic inches.
The best domestic [Corvette] 2V get 1.17HP per cubic inch while Nissan achieves 1.30-1.31 and promises 1.378 for next year.
Not to say that an expert might not be able to match the runners to the heads a tiny bit better and find another 5-10 HP.
Unfortunately miniscule changes and test would require a week to plan [few thousand] and a few days to execute.
Removing and replacing the heads and head gasket, bolts chains etc.........will take 15 hours [$1500].
I'm sure the whole job could be done for $3,000-$4,000.......not very cost effective for such a small gain.
Probably better and less expensive to have 4 new cams ground with increased duration and lift and changed for $3,000...........should provide at least 20-25 HP.
