Background info:
I am from Toronto, and its winter time, these days, the weather has hit -15 to -5 degree celcius which is frozen cold.

Intro:
My G35 is stored in an underground parking lot, its been stored for about 6 weeks now, every week or so, I would drive it around the 4 levels of the underground parking lot ot prevent any rotor rust, or battery dying, and to prevent tires from having lumps.

During the last 5 days, I haven't had time to start/warm the car and drive it around the lot because it was snowing bad and weather is like -15 degree celcius (so I am stuck at my other home).

Today, I went over to the parking lot to start the car and run it a bit. The shocking/depressing XMAS present I am receiving is the following: VDC Light and Slip both came on.

What happened:
I hop into my G35 Coupe (6speed). Start the car, it started without hesitation. It sits at 1100 rpm (cold start) then after a second, it dropped to like 0 and the car felt like it shut off, but then after a half a second, it poppped back up to 800-900 rpm (like it start on itself again). Then it sit at at that rpm and fluctuates between 700-1000 rpm once every while. I had it ran for 5 mins, then the VDC Off light and Slip light both came on. I tried to rev it, and it wouldn't go over 1500 rpm. I also put it in gear, and try to rev it, still wouldn't go over 1500 rpm. I let it warm for another 5 mins, do the same, wouldn't go over 1500-1600 rpm. So I shut off the car for a minute, turn it on again, still act the same way.

No ABS light, the CEL is on, but it was on before I stored it, I had it scanned, and it says my gas cap has issue. But I had been driving with that CEL for 3 months without problem, VDC and SLIP never came on.

So, what is the potential problem? Cold weather? Gas cap issue? Brake rotors with some rust? Frozen gas line? Frozen fluid? (HAHA) Throttle?

Anyone with similar experience in cold weather? Or similar situation? Or similar start-up issue before?

What did you do to check, and what was your resolution if your problem's fix? And what was the approx. cost?

You're car went into limp mode for some reason. We need to know what the CEL is, even though you had it for three months the car might be throwing another code. Without knowing was the CEL is there is almost absolutely nothing anyone here can do.

 

Not sure what year or mileage you have but if this is an automatic I would recommend replacing the radiator before it fails and mixes the coolant with the transmission fluid.
