intake for dummies...

Re: intake for dummies...
Thanks for the props on my engine bay, here is another pic. The K&N has a integrated MAF and I added the 3" AEM bypass valve to be safe during monsoon season here in Phoenix. I might actually make it a short ram once the rains start, not sure I trust the bypass for as hard as it can rain here.

Hey dagg,
Presently I live up North at Happy Valley Rd and I-17 and driving back and forth from Tucson at least 1 to 2 times a week to see my wife. I got transfered here in January and am racking up the miles big time. I put about 3k miles a month on my "G" right now and it shows LOL. I use a Colgan bra and still have a sand blasted bumper and knicks on my upper hood and windshield. I am going to get her re-painted as soon as I can and replace the front bumper. I bought a house in Arrowhead Ranch and will be moving in at the end of this month ( I cant wait, I have a golf course in my back yard )
As far as the water issue goes, you don't have to worry unless you have a CAI, if you do I would suggest a water bypass valve that goes between the to pieces of the tube and redirects airflow if the cone filter gets obstructed. If you are still stock with the intake you will be fine unless you hit water up to your front grill. If thats the case just park the car and take the boat to work.

Re: intake for dummies...
And how often do you measure compression and leak down on 100k BMW..........the filtration problems usually don't show up till you've ingested 150-200k of dirt. Just a slow decline as the rings wear till it finally starts blowing blue smoke and idles rough......still power won't be down more than 15-20%.
