mods are a scam?

after recent review of many many posts, i have drawn several conclusions from members posts...

1)mods are causing a loss of HP.
2)mods are for visual purposes only
3)only 'good' mod is grounding kit
4)plenum does nothing

once again, these are assumptions i have made that equal others opinions, please prove me wrong.

Re: mods are a scam?

dagg you may want to try being more specific.
Let me try to answer your questions anyway.

1)mods are causing a loss of HP.
Yes, some are in certain circumstances
No, not all

2)mods are for visual purposes only
Yes, some are
No, not all

3)only 'good' mod is grounding kit
Depending on what your after, yes, grounding kit appeals to some.
No, the grounding kit doesn't appeal to all.

4)plenum does nothing
Yes, the plenum just sits on top of your engine.
No, it is less restrictive than the stock one.

I don't think you've done as much research as you think you have. Even after doing all the research you can, deciding on certain mods come down the the simple question of what your after.

I can tell you for a fact that the vortec mod does something.

Re: mods are a scam?

I'll let you know about the plenum deal soon. Monday is my base dyno ( tube, pop, grounding ) and I'll have the kinetics plenum installed by the end of month with dyno to follow. Let's see if I increase anywhere?

This will be the deciding factor to do or not do the technosquare reflash also.

Yeah sure having forced induction will lead to the loss of horse power. LOL

Re: mods are a scam?

You may be on to something. I'm sure 20" spinners are bad for performance. Dual CAIs probably don't do anything either. Hell, 6-4-1-2-3-7 exhaust systems probably just add more weight than HP.

Do you have any specifics or facts to support your incredibly broad generalizations?

Re: mods are a scam?

I'm not sure where you did your research, but the plenum DOES add horsepower. The select group of people you seem to be referencing are the exception, not the rule.

Re: mods are a scam?

Plenum = good.

I spoke with 2 people last night, one with a 350Z and another with a G35 and BOTH said that the grounding kits are "Worthless for performance" and that they "noticed no changes what so ever".

If the data you've collected led you to those opinions, may I suggest doing a search on specific mods and reading more than just one recent post. I know people who have gained 20bhp and they have the dynos to prove it...

1. Pimpin' Pearl
2. Neffster
3, 4, 5. SoCalTed (and 2 of his buddies)
6. and many more...

I suggest you do more research...

1)mods are causing a loss of HP.
Try to put on a supercharger, you will see the difference.

2)mods are for visual purposes only
once again, supercharger is not for visual purpose

3)only 'good' mod is grounding kit
Grounding kit doesn't do good for soild HP

4)plenum does nothing
Plenum does something, simple explaination i think more then 25% of people in the forum say plenum is a good thing...then i guess its a good thing for sure!!! plus it cost more then 1000 so it must be good (if its not...someone will warn us) and i think if you do a better research...you will find dyno charts

Re: mods are a scam?

I dont know about the grounding kit doing nothing. I installed mine yesterday and I swear the throttle is more responsive and shifting more smooth. Of course I have no scientific proof just my buttocks dyno. And when I put in the z tube and k&N filter I didn't feel **** but with the grounding kit I really felt a difference.

You're not the only one to notice this! Even if an intake or other mod COULD make 5 to 10 HP, I'm not sure most ppl will feel it in their butt dynos. The extra noise they make adds to the perception that something good must be happening. Most ppl, on a properly installed and designed H-G system notice differences in smoothness, shifting and throttle response. Even most skeptics (as I once was). Many blind tests as well confirm.

Of course, even with dyno results, feedback from the majority of users, etc., there are many that refuse to acknowledge the validity of Hyper-Grounding. Oh well. But I'm biased of course!

Re: mods are a scam?

Then either:

You are an alien.
You had crappy grounds to begin with. Wonder what else is crappy?
You have an auto and did an ecu reset.
You paid too much and need to feel something.

Yes it is true, a ztube will not make the car shift differently or make it more smooth.
If your butt dyno can tell a difference between a grounding kit and a ztube, you are an alien.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
