Valve ticking
Valve ticking
I'm getting a pretty bad tick from my left side valve cover area.
Anyone have experience with valve adjustments? Dealer-only repair?
What did it run at the dealer?

You sure its not an exhaust leak? Check to see if you have oil on your dipstick. Also make sure all your vacuum lines are connected properly. Ive been reading alot about seafoam. Look into it.
Its totally safe and its been used for years. Its a petroleum based product. Por 1/3 into your brake booster line, 1/3 into your crank case, and the last 1/3 into your fuel tank.

a few hours earlier and you didn’t know about it - and now you're telling people to use it??? you haven’t even used it yet.
It’s not a quick or easy job... are you certain the sound you hear is valve tap? I've posted in a few threads regarding valve tap - I don’t have time to search for them, but if you do I'm sure you'll find them.

Make sure you're not just hearing the noisy VQ fuel injectors. They tick loudly. Always have. Take a really long screw driver and place it on the injector cap and place the handle up against your ear. I bet you it's the sound you're hearing. I've never heard of a VQ needing a valve adjustment.
My motor had ~75k on it when we re-built it and were going to do a valve job before I just went with GTM heads. IMO a valve job is a good idea @100k. It's a lot of work and expect to pay $1k+ for the labor.
Wait a minute... only a few hours before this post you were asking about the stuff in this thread https://g35driver.com/forums/engine-...does-work.html

just because you post bad info in threads that I was already subscribed to (and get email notifications on) doesn’t mean I take time "too see what you're up to"... I couldn’t care less about what you are up to.

... but I doubt my valve tick is the same as opsOver time the buckets do become worn and a valve job is needed... many miles though - I'm sure we'll start seeing more and more noisy valves now that there are cars racking up the miles...
