checking the dipstick!?!?

hey i just checked my dipstick today....im around 1000-1500 miles on this oil...and the dipstick read a little below L....and when i had my oil changed last the people at meineke said that the amount of oil that came out was what it was supposed to be and it was below L then too...so im at a loss of wtf is up but id like to see who if anyone has a solution for this or has this happen to them too...mind you that i took the oil reading when it was sitting after about 12 hours i dont know if this would affect anything...i have an extra qt of the oil in my trunk too just in case if i need to add any...thanks guys for any and all input

Considering they said the right amount came out maybe an oil pan spacer or larger pan? Just a thought if OP got the car used.
