CAI installed, Plenum installed, passenger side cat installed (by me), everything is A OK in the world. Took her to a local shop, they installed the drivers side Cat (passenger side whooped my ***), I drive off, everythings peachy. 5 minutes later, Check Engine Soon. Arggghhh!!!! Plus, a rattle/vibration on the floorboard.
Possibilities:
(93 octane fuel, 450 ft above sea level, 90 degree day)
1) He damaged the O2 sensor
2) I'm way too lean, but I'm not in safe mode, but would the check engine come on telling me I'm lean? There is no knocking or pinging and she drives like a champ.
3) What else?
(P.S. ECU reset doesn't fix it)
Keep in mind I have a 2004.5 ULEV2. Is this car more sensitive to emissions than a non-ULEV2? Anyone out there with CAI, plenum, and Cats on a 2004.5 have similar issues?
I'll know soon enough tomorrow when I get the code read, but sure makes for a tossy turny night sleeping.
Having said that....damn this thing goes now! Very nice deep growl purring now and very responsive.

Darn, fish that's the last thing I want to hear a week before I install my plenum and cats. Can you tell what side of the floorboard is the vibration comming from?? Driver or passenger??
If you drove your car this morning and no CEL was on, then they must have caused the problem. I hope everything gets back to normal really soon man.

I thought I heard something about our G's having a problem getting too lean with the addition of a plenum and hi-flow cats. Not too sure, but I'm thinking the TS ecu would help out with that...or maybe an Apex'i SAFC.

-Fish,
Did the guy use 3/8" washers on each side of the bolt and Y-Pipe connection?
The Y-Pipe and cats have some extremely long/wide slots in them. If you only use the head of bolt to clamp the Y-Pipe to the cats, they will "jiggle" around and go to the most relaxed position due to almost no contact area between the head of the bolt and the Cat or Y-Pipe flange. This relaxed (or steady state) position is probably right up against your heat shield. When your car hits certain rpm's the engine actually moves around (can be seen on a dyno). This movement will move or vibrate your cats up against your heat shield, causing an annoying rattle. I've IM'd other people about this issue before and they've all IM'd me back telling me that they were able to fix the issue by either installing the washers or by bending the heat shield with a crow bar.
Personally I'd install the washers. FYI, it goes bolt head, washer, install onto the Cat, gasket, Y-Pipe, washer, *lock nut. *If you have a lock washer you can throw that in before the nut if you like.
Now align the ID of the cat and Y-Pipe and then torque the heck out of those bolts. When you can't get them any tighter you're done.
Good luck with the rattle, and I bet if you unplug your battery for 12+ hours the light will go off.
Please post back as to what you find out. This is another potential "sticky thread" (unless we start talking about grounding wires again, LOL)
<font color=blue>The above statements are only my take on the issue. If you disagree with anything I typed then you are 100% right!</font color=blue>

I attached a grounding wire to the O2 sensor and the problem went away......
Seriously though,
I took her back in and the code read Lean Bank 1. That's the side he worked on. He removed the O2 sensor, the A/F sensor, and fiddled with connections. He said the light was still on. I don't know if he reset or not, but when I picked it up and started it, I let it idle for 5 minutes. Drove home and for 15 minutes I never exceeded 2000 RPM. It was 83 degrees out with moderate humidity.
Doug returned my call and while he was on the phone I went to WOT and still no check engine light. Doug speculated there was leaking air somewhere after the manifold. The service manual says to check for air leakage, MAF sensor, and A/F sensor.
Doug and I concluded the guy accidentally fixed the problem when he fiddled with stuff he removed and put back on, probably sealing a minute air leak somewhere after the manifold, or possibly a PCV hose. I'll keep an eye on the light. The car ran like a top before and after the light. Of course if I am lean or continue to be lean I'll eventually find out from knocking or a spark plug going bad cause missing in a cylinder or more.
Once I'm confident that light doesn't come back on, I'll address the heat shield rattle. When your light comes on, rattles are the least of your worries. They should call it the death sentence light. It's not like I can just roll it back into my Infiniti dealership in that condition and expect them to troubleshoot a MIL.
I'll update with any changes but man, mods are not for the squeamish.

My lights been on since the day I installed my Kinetix cats...turns out, my driver side O2 sensor is NF, according to a diag the dealer did. $150 to replace it...I'll get it soon.

I have a bad feeling it's the O2 sensor then. I hope not, but that is what the gut says.

The error he pulled the first time was "Lean Bank 1". Service manual says to check for air leaks and pcv hoses, as well as A/F sensor and MAF. There is a separate code for O2 sensor and that one didn't come up.
I'm taking it to Crawford on Friday. I'm tired of messing with it locally and don't want to find out how mod friendly my dealer is. The only time I've been to my dealer was to replace a wheel and they: Lost the valve stem cap, tried to charge me $22 for touch up paint, took 4 hours to replace the wheel and change my key fob mode to 3 (which they never successfully did), and then washed it when I told them not to.
I'll update after Friday when Crawford has a go at it.

Godspeed to you fish, on your trip to Nashville. I sure hope you can solve the problem. I really love your exhaust note at the moment and I can only imagine what it feels like driving it.
I should have known this yesterday and you could have saved me the shipping charges on my Crawford cats....: )

The lesson I learned is to do it yourself. I'll let you know what the problem was so you can make sure and not do it. I needed a road trip anyway. I've got a 2 hour cigar I've been wanting to smoke.

cigar smoke in a g!?! LoL i used to get made fun of by all my friends who would meet me outside places and stuff when i got there because they knew that i was going to have a ciggerette before going inside. I was smoking a pack a day easily when i had my suburban for the last year and a half.... i got my g adn didnt smoke in it.... now i dont smoke at all lol. The g made me quit smoking because without smoking in the car, it for some reason just eventually cured itself. I dunno ur post made me think of that. (cigar smoke smells a lot better than second hand cig smoke tho)

The "G" as Stop Smoking Catalyst - the impressive list of things this car can do is amazing, and continues to grow. Plus, it's way more fun than a "patch" - now, if I can just get my doctor to prescribe high speed runs as a "treatment", I'll really be set!
LOL - same here, Raznips - I haven't been able to bring myself to smoke in the "G" yet (6,000 miles) - and don't anymore, either!
