Mine goes to 4, no matter what speed I'm doing, even if it doesn't actually go to 4th. It's weird. I'm interested in ther VB purely for crisper shifts.

That must be a year specific thing... Mine shifts into whatever gear it thinks I should be in at that current speed. Weird thing is though, if I'm doing 80 on the freeway and switch to Triptronic, it goes to 4th, not 5th. Not entirely sure the reasoning for this.

That's what I mean. If I am sat at the light, and switch to MM, it reads as 4th. If i'm at 80, and switch to MM is shows 4th.

If I'm standing still and I shift to MM it goes to 1, but if I'm on the highway it will go to 4.

I get the same thing...always switched to 4m....and usually at the speed I'm driving it should be in 3rd.

I think it switches to 4 on the high way for you 04.5 and up so when you switch it to hit higher rpms to switch lanes and pick up more speed.

Search people. All this has been covered in hundreds of previous threads.

i could be wrong but usually the last gear is Final drive ratio gear....so if u were goin for top speed run u would use 5th otherwise ur fine in 4th...i really only shift into 5th when im at 80 to keep RPM's low.....maybe a 6MT owner can chime in.....do u need to use 6th gear or is it more or less a "habit" and cant u keep all ur useable power in 5th and not need 6th? OR am i way out in left field and its needed lol

Nope... The search bores are the ones that come in, riding a high horse, proclaiming "have you not used search" and then gallop off after being no help to whoever. I think they were born condescending. The thread started at point A, and went to point B, then C and so on. People adding to the conversation as it went, and so on, and so forth. I'm sure you have added to a conversation that has actually been mentioned before. hell, I'm sure everyhting has been covered many times. Might as well close down the forum and call it a FAQ.
