ztube +p/c increased gas milage considerably....
On my car i was getting about 12-13 mpg (probably because i was racing through 1st and 2nd at wot all the time lol) and it was all because of driving habits. After the install of my p/c and ztube i am getting aroun 17 mpg..... This is all residential driving in stop and go settings with speed limits of between 25 and 45 mph. Lots of traffic lights and stop signs.... but still i thot that was werid that my fuel effecientcy (<-- wow sp!?) jumped so much.... 5 miles may not seem like a lot... until u consider that its 100 miles more per tank of gas. I have heard that the p/c gains its ponies by "tricking the MAF into running lean" could this be why the gas milage is improved? Is it maybe a fluke that my gas milage went up at the same time and actually went up because i just broke in my engine (installed at about 900 miles). I have had the car longer now and my driving habits have changed considerably since the "new" wore off a little (and i got pulled over for speeding, fishtailing a turn, wreckless driving). but they havent changed enough to make the 5mpg change. the way i was calculating was resetting my miles afte each fillup and then the next fillup calculating exactly how much gas was used and dividing the miles by that (if i have 5 gallons left and 220 miles, 220/15) so i know that the calcs were pretty accurate. Is this possibly just because of more effiecent airflow and combustion with the greater amount of air or what gives? It doesnt bother me im just curious and asking for the sake of learning. either way i love the mod and do not have ANY buyers remorse for the 250 spent at everythingg35.com for p/c, ztube, clear corners, and pc oil.
