the point is to show the decrease in foreign matter as the engine breaks in and confirm that things drop to normal levels.

i also blew my g35 motor @ 68k miles due to oil consumption. they said it was due to "excessive downshifting". the crazy thing is i drive an auto which is super rare to have oil issues. just trying to keep a better eye on things with the new car.
interesting to know..sorry for thread bashing 1st post

latest oil change @ ~10k miles (~5k interval):

oil is actually 5w40 if i remember right. only negative so far seems to be higher aluminum but like they said, it could just be the longer interval. also, i just came back from zdayz so i was pushing the car pretty hard up there. interested in seeing how the next aluminum reading comes back unless i end up at an auto-x or something. also did the tbn this time to check life and 5k is definitely ok, i could in fact go longer but i doubt i will.

Thank you for sharing this great information.

I wonder if the analysis will reveal what type and brand (dino or synthetic) of oil the dealer use.

I just did my oil change at 800 miles on my 09 G37x at the Infinity dealer and they use dyno oil. I have to request synthetic and they use Mobil 1 instead of ester. I will have to purchase my own Nissan ester oil and bring them to my next oil change at 1200 miles. I would like to make sure that they will put them in and not swapping for something cheaper.

dont think they can tell you type of oil. dyno oil? nissan ester sucks, who cares. mobil 1 isnt a full synthetic either.

That's a lot of aluminum - weird. My newly built shortblock from Forged had much lower numbers for just about everything, even on the oil that was used to refill after I blew the oil filter off at the airstrip on a hard run and the car ran without oil for about 10 seconds. That said, whenever I do an oil change, I use Mobil 1 0W-40 mixed with 15W-50 (depending on winter/summer). Whenever it goes to Forged, they use 15W-50 300V, but I've noticed slightly higher metal wear with Motul (not significant probably). Sharif will probably kill me for saying it, but I'd give Mobil 1 0W-40 a shot for one interval and see what happens. You should post up in the my350z stickied oil analysis thread...

I just sent out a sample of motul 5w40 for analysis and then filled with mobil1 5w40 (turbo diesel truck blend) which I will send out as well when the time comes. Will be an interesting comparison.

I hope that the high aluminum doesn't mean you have a possible future O.C. engine (rings)...

Are you sure that 300V is the best oil for your Nissan?

^^ Doesn't look like your engine is wearing properly. Even with twin turbos I'm very close if not equal to universal average. Even silicon is high on your results...do you have an aftermarket intake that might be letting dirt through?
