AMSOIL, ridiculously expensive, but worth it?

I was reading posts about motor oils and lots of ppl are recommending AMSOIL over the others. then i googled it, DAMN !!! almost $9 plus shipping for one quart of oil comparing with the others are $4-$6 per quart.

some of the sites are HIGHLY recommending AMSOIL while some others are againsting it. this is quoted from one of the oil tests " ....Switching to our flush Mobil 1 netted a nearly instant 10% improvement in fuel economy, and the engine runs a heckuva lot smoother too...."

here comes my questions:

1: is there a way to get it cheaper without signing up their so-called preferred customer program (which u pay to join.)?

2: Does AMSOIL worth the money ?

they are roughly $10 buck at local stores.

to me oil is oil. unless your running something other then a stock engine i wouldn't think too much of oil. even if your boosted any syn oil should be good. what do you want to do with your money.

Amsoil is worth the money. It's that good. Question is, will you ever need it or would you ever do an extended drain to justify it? 90% don't.

It's sorta like having a 1,000hp car for your daily rush hour commute. yeah, the hp is there but do you ever get to use it? No.

Unless you are boosted, go with a good synthetic or group III.

i don't think Castrol has the same extended drain capability as Amsoil. Amsoil's additive package is stout and can go the distance. Castro (german) is no slouch either. Would make a fine alternative. Penzoil Plat is also good. As well as Mobil 1 0w-30. hell anything is probably good with a 3-4k change interval.

The thing of it is u should change your oil at 3k miles, people don't realize how much it breaks down escpecially wen yur revving it..plus wats $30-40 for oil change instead of putting in new motor or rings n pistons...pretty cheep for the oil instead of all those other repaire

I am with Jeff. I am changing my oil every 3750 miles religiously. With this interval, a good dino or any syn oil will do fine. Also, I don't race or drive hard at all.

However, I did put Amsoil in my tranny and diff just because the change interval between these two are 30k miles. The cost of Amsoil justify the cost.

With Amsoil not only do you get extended drain intervals, making it comparable or even cheaper than dino or some other syns, you get better protection all the time it's in there. Totally worth it, IMO, so much so I became a dealer. The $10 Preferred Customer option is very much worth it as you save about 20-25% on your first and every purchase.

In about a week I will do my oil/filter change, plus change out the diff oil.

The only way you could really know that is if you have a used oil analysis done. I'll be changing mine out at 10,000km (~6200 miles), maybe I'll get a UOA and see what it shows.

I am not sure if Amsoil is worth $$$, but here is my oil experence.

My third car is a '00 Chrysler 300M. It has 126K miles on it and since the first oil change I have ran full syn (M1 and now Q Power) in it and changed at 8K miles. I have no problems with loss of oil or any problems period with this car. It was be great to me!

Next, two years ago I bought my daughter a new Mazda 3. The dealership had a promo of free lifetime oil changes with the purchase of a new Mazda. The interesting thing is they change for free at 5K intervols. Point, the change at 3K mile is money making bull. Go over to BOBISTHEOILGUY.COM the guys there are doing longer than 3K changes on dino oil.

My wifes '08 Acura TL has a sensor that tells the oil life in the engine. At 6K miles the oil has 30% oil life left on 5W-20 Quaker State Dino.

For my G, I change at 8K with full syn Q-Power. $18 for a five qt jug at WM. Get a quality oil filter for longer oil changes. Napa Gold, Wix, Purolator Pure One are in the $6-8range.
