Gluing 5AT aluminum e-brake to stock ...

How do you glue it, exactly? The stock won't fit inside the back of the aluminum. I could glue the edges of the stock to the inside edges of the aluminum. That's all I see.

Re: Gluing 5AT aluminum e-brake to stock ...

I asked this very same question a few weeks back, but nobody replied. I just glued the new alum. e-brake pedal over the stock brake pedal rubber with epoxy glue as directed. It's on and looks good, but it's a good thing I live in S. Florida and probably will never have to use it. If I did, my foot will surely knock it off. I have no idea how other people get it on solid so it won't come off when used. Maybe someone else will chime in with the answer.

I'm more concerned with my new alum gas pedal which is on correctly, but it has some play at the top and when I tap it with my foot, it clanks up against the metal rod it's attached to; the top clip isn't holding it tight all the way against the metal rod...I tried to clamp it tighter but it won't budge. Anyone know what I can do about this? Thx.

Re: Gluing 5AT aluminum e-brake to stock ...

Thanks, but I'm not sure I agree that's just how it fits on there b/c our FX35 has the same oem drilled alum pedals that came with the FX35 and the gas pedal doesn't click like it does on my G35. I wonder if the top clip that came with the alum pedal kit is somehow different. At least I know I'm not the only one with an alum gas pedal which clicks when I press and release it...I guess it's annoying now, but I'm sure I'll get used to it if it can't be fixed ;-)

Drill a hole through them both and put a nut & bolt in.

i put a black screw in the mid, then tightened up with a clip on the back of pedal.

I managed to epoxy it securely to the e-brake pedal. If you notice, the shape of the pedal doesnt exactly match the contour of the metal on which you are trying to glue it to. I gently shaped the pedal (be careful!) to fit the contour of thte metal and then cut a piece off of the top left (looking at the pedal from behind) rubber lining in order to allow for a better fit agains the vertical bar. Vuala! Fit like it was meant to be there. BTW - I used a pliable epoxy.

I'm beginning to think drilling is the best answer. There is a perfect hole for it on the platform. Now all I need is someone with a drill who isn't afraid to use it. LoL

I just fixed my alum gas pedal clicking by taking off the top clip, adding a small piece of felt (w/ sticky backing) to the inside center of the clip, and attaching the top clip again. It's now a tighter fit...no clicking!

Re: Gluing 5AT aluminum e-brake to stock ...

Use screws vice glue, it's easy:
1) brake cover. drill out center top and bottom black plugs from behind;
2) brake pedal. set/depress so doesn't move when drill/install;
3) place brake cover on pedal, mark then drill pilot holes;
4) attach cover to pedal using black screws to match

Foot stomp note: Ensure pedal is secure before drilling/screwing by depressing pedal, and ensure cover is lined up properly.

Re: Gluing 5AT aluminum e-brake to stock ...

Here's what I did...

I first removed the stock e-brake. I then trimmed away the rubber on the back side (all four sides) of the aluminum e-brake until it fit flush over the stock e-brake. Next, I applied some epoxy to the back of the aluminum e-brake and the surface of the stock e-brake and affixed the aluminum e-brake over the stock e-brake and let it set for a couple days. Once I was certain the glue had dried, I installed the e-brake.

That's it.
