hi. i just bought infiniti g35 coupe 2005 6 mt gray.
my car photos are in picture forum...

but i have some problems. first is the clicking axle problem.. but i found that i can fix that by my self i guess???

and another problem is low rpms... on idle my tachometer is showing, i guess, about 200 rpm? if i'm not mistaking.. here is my photo.. i drew i blue line where my needle lies when engine is on idle and warm.. and the car is a bit shaky.. is this normal or what? help please...

 

Dealership should be able to fix both problem. Kill 2 birds w/ 1 stone.

anyways, car is shaky because the RPM is low and if it hits below a certain rpm, car would just shut off. Not sure how to fix it. I'm guessing cleaning the throttle body, new air filter, ecu reset, etc etc.

But I would take it to the dealer.

 

problem is that we here in lithuania don't have infiniti dealers... (europe). and i'm not certain if nissan dealers would fix the car..

PS. it seems that engine temp is a bit lower in my car than it should be... i think these problems could be somehow linked together????

It looks like 400-500 rpm. Mine does this too but runs smooth...

 

Thats 400 RPM, but still below factory spec. Should be ~650 +/- 50 RPM.

Do the throttle body reset procedure. Do a search - you should be able to find it in the tech section somewhere.

today i tried to do the reset procedure, but nothing changed...
is my engine temp normal?

 

are you sure your reset worked?

try disconnecting your battery for 24 hours and see it your revs go up then.


How long have our engine been running before you took that pic?
Normal operating temp is in the middle.


and by the way.........it says REV in the middle.........so REV that bitch.

your thermostat could be bad and stays open all the time.


Does it take long for the needle to get there?

 

no, it goes to that place i think fast.
this foto is taken when i started the car, drove to the street, then turned around and got back. all about ~1 mile i guess..

but it stays there all the time..

 

Looks like it has some breathing problems....

I would clean the throttle body, i''m pretty sure it has carbon build-up. I would recommend disconnect the battery before your disconnect any harness from anywhere. This might eliminate the need for a idle reset or any other reset procedure.

Second, buy some electronic(non-residue) cleaner from radio shack, clean the map sensor.

And last but not least...replace your air filter.

I seriously doubt it has anything to do with your thermostat or the cooling system at all. My coupe reaches normal driving temp
within a few block this time of year....NBFD! My guess the low idle has more to do with dirty throttle body and it never hurts to
have a clean air filter. Disconnect the negative side of the battery for a few hours and see if that makes a difference.

Your temp shouldn't reach that point right away. It should take a minute or 2 to get there. It takes time for my needle to get up there. It doesn't reach that point instantly when I start the car.

I say take it to the mechanic. Maybe even a Nissan dealership.

 

if you pull out thermostat and it will be closed, try boiling it to determine at which temperature it will open up.

and then see if it is the temp that it should be opening up with.
