Bolt-ons before the tune!

Hey guys-

I've got an 06 6MT coupe and have been bitten by the mod bug. I want to do everything that is cost-effective HP-wise (so no headers) and then get a professional osiris tune.

Can you think of anything I'm missing that would be worth doing before I call up the shop and schedule some dyno time? I've already got:

5/16 MD iso-spacer with coolant control valve
MREV2
Z-tube/K&N filter
Gordee's GroundingGear (6MT performance kit)
Fast Intentions high flow cats
Fast Intentions Intimidator cat-back (currently on order, but not installed yet)

Don't want to spend the same money twice. I'll be upgrading the flywheel/clutch when the stock one dies; its only got 19K miles on it.

What do you think?

seems good

if you have a lot of extra money you could get some JWT S1 cams

i think they make like 14 whp, but they're $1,200

That's a good list. It seems headers are the next step before you crack into the engine. If your stock exhaust manifolds are the bottleneck when you get tuned, it would suck to have to re-tune after you have headers installed. Just my .02

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Eventually (2-3 years) I'll be getting the motor built for FI so yeah cams and headers will definitely be on the list, but not yet

If I gotta pull the motor to do the work I'll just save up and do all that sh_t at one time.

Those should produce good gains especially after a tune. You should check out my thread about my NA experience. I saw nice gains after the tune.

Those cams look pretty sick; but they won't work on the rev-up.
You've gotta get the S7's; S1 is only for the DE non rev-up.

it can be done without pulling motor, but still isnt cheap... I had Crawford headers installed at the same time as cams - Crawfords are a b!tch to install with engine in the car - so they yanked it out and did cams and headers with engine out.

Some prefer to pull bumper off, remove radiator, etc - and get at timing cover to dig in from front of car (thats how M Works was going to do it - but I went with Technosquare).

me... but my install price included headers so I can’t help, sorry...

FWIW, the price of cams and install is about the worse bang for buck of anything I've done.

That’s not to say there are no gains, but it’s a lot of money for minimal gains... and since I didn’t know of anyone that had done only cams and headers I decided to be the guinea pig. I'm here to tell you, it’s not really worth it - but suite yourself.

I think it would only be worth it on a full build… but then you’re looking at a significantly higher dollar amount.
