Cons of driving with a bad throttle body?

My last two TBs have been problematic. In fact I have begun to suspect that the 2nd one which I have running right now probably isn't bad at all. In fact I am beginning to suspect the re-learn procedure effectiveness. Does it really work? any testimonies?

This is the procedure I always try for re-learning a TB (mebbe 50+ times now):

PART-A
--------
Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning
1) Leave ACC pedal "as is”
2) Turn IGN switch “ON” – at least 2 sec
3) Turn IGN switch “OFF” – at least 10 sec
4) Turn IGN switch “ON” – at least 2 sec
5) Turn IGN switch “OFF” – at least 10 sec

Wait 10 sec for next procedure

PART-B
--------
Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning
1) Leave ACC pedal “as is”
2) Turn IGN switch “ON” – appr 3-4 sec
3) Turn IGN switch “OFF” – at least 10 sec

Wait 10 sec for next procedure

PART-C
--------
Idle Air Volume Learning
1) Leave ACC pedal “as is”
2) Start engine and warm up to operating temp – temp gauge around middle
3) Turn IGN switch “OFF” – at least 10 sec
4) Turn IGN switch “ON” – 3 sec
5) Fully depress and release ACC pedal – 5 times within 5 sec
6) Wait 7 sec
7) Fully depress ACC pedal for appr 20 sec – during this time CEL blinks
8] When CEL light is “ON”, not blinking – fully release ACC pedal
9) Turn the engine “ON” within 3 sec
10) Start engine and idle
11) Wait 20 sec
12) Rev engine 2-3 times and check IDLE and TIMING

Part-C seems to be working for me after a few initial trials. I was able to reset the SES, but it would come back on after 30-50 miles. My initial cool-off RPMs run anywhere between 1000 and 1500. After warming up it stays around 700-800. I got codes for idle position sensor and throttle position sensor.

So finally, what are the cons of driving with a buggy TB. Does it have any serious side effects other than bad fuel efficiency and bumpy acceleration?

THX,
Iggy

Hmmm.. yeah it stalled on me once, it was a lame experience.

I hope it doesn't affect its neighbors such as MAF or the Intake manifold? I hope it doesn't cause any kind of gunk accumulation etc?

I am doing some research before I fix my TB, so was wondering if there were any obvious damages being done to the engine itself because of this wait.
