NEED HELP! "what belt is this?"
NEED HELP! "what belt is this?"

Is this the timing belt? All i know is it is making squeeking noises and i called infiniti and they said it will cost 100+ to change the product.
can someone help me out and identify what belt this is.. Thanks
That would be your serpentine belt. Our engines don't have a timing belt, they have a timing chain and it's located inside the motor and you can't see it unless you remove the valve covers.
Typically those belts have an autotensioner on them, but I'm not sure if our cars do. If they don't, you shouldn't need to replace the belt... just tighten it.
How old is your car and how many miles do you have on it? Does the belt look visibly worn, cracked or frayed? It could be one of the pullies that's making the noise, rather than the belt if the bearings in the pulley are corroded or if there is a bunch of debris caked around the pulley itself.
If you're at all a hands-on type person, I wouldn't pay a dealership to change that belt. It's something you can do on your own in your driveway or parking space with very minimal tools and almost no prior mechanical experience. My suggestion to you is to download the Factory Service Manual in PDF format for your car and read up a bit on what manual says about how to remove and install the Serpentine Belt, and then do it yourself. Even if you don't currently own any tools, the amount of money that you will save by doing this one job by yourself will easily buy you a starters tool kit with all the tools that you'll need to do this job and then some X10.

If the belt doesnt look worn or cracked it could be the bearings in the tensioner (thats the teardrop lookin piece on the left side of your pic). I had this happen to my other car, just bought a new tensioner and fixed it. Just a thought
it is a 2005 it has exactly 26,245 miles on the car
i have yet to really take a look at the bearings, i just started to hear it this morning when i was heating up the car. i noticed the sound was coming from that area. ill take a look at it in the morning, but yea there was no way i was going to pay that much to install it

Well I just replaced mine today man.. Its ****ing pretty easy to change.. There is two belts, one is for your AC/Alternator and the other one well i just will call it a timing belt even tho its not.. All you need to do is:
1. Take your intake off completely
2. Loosen up the Adjustement pulleys (The ones that don't have ridges on them with a bit of a chrome finish) BUT DONT TAKE THEM OUT.
3. The easiest way is to lightly jack the front end up as if you would do an oil change, take the Oil pan plastic cover off
4 Locate the 2 tensioner pulley ajudstment bolts, they are located pretty much perpendicularly to the chrome pulleys, get a ranch on there loosen those up .
5. take the old belts out, make sure you take not of how its passed thru the pulleys
6. Put the new belts on ( Put the Small one first )
7. Adjust the tensioner pulley to where the belts are considerably tight
8. Repeat 6-7 for the other belt
9. Tighen the chrome pulley bolts back to lock the adjustment screws in position..
10. put intake back on
11. DONE
1. Take your intake off completely
2. Loosen up the Adjustement pulleys (The ones that don't have ridges on them with a bit of a chrome finish) BUT DONT TAKE THEM OUT.
