ECU - Swappable? How?

Most people know that the early 2003 is the bastard child with a different ECU. I don't like this and would like to swap with possible the 2004.5 which uses different 02 sensors (wideband) and a different wiring harness.

Possible? What exactly would have to change? Just the engine wiring harness & ECU ...transmission & TCU as well?

You would probably have better luck swapping to 03.5 ecu. But the ecu connectors are completely different along with the way the code is done. (from early 03 vs every other G/Z)

Although there was/is a just a glimmer of hope for something like a UpRev flash, I'd opt to have TS handle it before doing an EXPENSIVE wiring harnes swap.

Or manually wire an UTEC or ETC in.

I'm just trying to figure out what would be require to do the swap...

I realize the ECU connectors are different and so the ECU and the engine wiring harness would need to be swapped. If I were going to swap both of those..why not just swap to a 2004.5+ which has the wideband?

I talked to a guy who worked at Uprev and he tried to tell me that nobody supports the early 2003 including TS. TS told me that they do in fact support as well as there are many people who have done it here. As that is an option... I'm also exploring the alternative.

The guys at Uprev are misinformed. TS cracked the 2003 sedan ECU back in 2003. I still don't get why Uprev can't crack this thing seeing that TS did it over 6 years ago. All TS does is flash the ECU. There's no wiring in a seperate EPROM or something like that. If TS can flash the 03 sedan ECU, then clearly any of the other vendors offering reflashes can do the same. I think the reason they don't do it is because they don't see a big market for it.

Luckily for us 03 owners, the 03 cars seem to take to bolt-ons better without going wildly lean, even on the stock ECU. Plus, the 03/04 sedans are a bit lighter which doesn't hurt.

I know what TS does...please read the title and reply to topic. I'm with you though, I hate how other companies claim that they cant...they just WONT.
