hello everyone can anyone help? my gas tank needle was reading all crazy like a few months ago on my 04 g35 coupe but now it wont read at all its always telling me i'm on empty even if i just filled up, what can this be? has this happend to you?

Might be a failed float level.

 

how can i fix that? is it expensive?

 

The fuel pump and level are all one assy. It's not that hard to get it. You have a service manual? No? Then take it to a dealer or a good repair shop. It could be just a loose wire but internet diagnostics are almost impossible.

Had a similar problem when the needle would never read above 7/8 full. Dealership needed to replace both the fuel sender unit and the guage cluster as well. Something to ask them to take a look at when you take it down.
