2004 coupe engine completly shot

my 2004 g35 coupe engine is completely shot, changed the oil bout 2,000 miles ago and driving home friday behind another g and a m3 i downshifted and i heard a loud pop and smoke instantly came from hood, after it being at the shop i got the call that a piston and or shaft went through the side wall of the motor leaving a 3 to 4 inch hole, wen the engine cover was taken off parts of the metal from the engine fell out. engine is dead have to replace it. any suggestions out there or reviews from ppl who have done g35 engine swaps? was thinkin of a rb26 (skyline) swap.. anyone seen gs wit this done? or has anyone heard of similar problem happening. car has 62 thousand on it and i always change the oil before its due to be changed. pretty much had stock engine before this happened only change was k and n drop in filter and stage 2 clutch chrome molly fly wheel and stage 1 pressure plate.

Well, if you didn't "abuse" the engine and you have less than 70,000 miles, couldn't you try the dealer to see if they can replace the engine? I dunno about 2004 models, but for 06 there's a 6 year/70,000 mile powertrain warranty.. If you didn't mis-shift and your engine just exploded with a normal down shift (no mechanical over-rev) the mechanics can pull the data log and see that it was driven properly and replace the engine...

You can do all that or if you have a lot of money and are adventurous...

A V8 engine from the Nissan Titan supercharged and then slapped into the G35... $$$$$
