Re: Steering Wheel Shake

all i did was do an alignment. The steering wheel stopped shaking. They said that the back was aggressively cambered but were able to get it back to spec. I didn't lower it that much on the corolla. (well that was about 8 years ago). The corolla is back to stock height.

Re: Steering Wheel Shake

You still drive that POS . It's especially scary when you pull up on me on the 710 and yell out my name.

I'll get you back with my Honda CBR600F4i if out paths meet again on the 710.

Re: Steering Wheel Shake

Might not be the case, but I just thought I'd take the opportunity to mention this experience:

Discount Tire Co. put new tires on, I got a shake at highway speeds. Went in to have them balance them (again, since they do it when they install them). Guys sticks it on the machine and does his thing. No dice. Still had the shake. Went in again, a little better but still there, so that let me know that I was on the right track. Before taking it in again, I removed the wheel to look around for myself. Started to roll wheel out of the way and what do I see? About 4-5 inches worth of weights slapped on!

Took it back in and an old-timer tried to balance it this time. He immediately told me the tire was faulty and couldn't be balanced. This guy was familiar with the craft, instead of just relying on what the computer balancing machine said to do. He told me it was always better to have them balanced on the car, if possible, and that "these kids" don't know a thing about balancing other than what the computer tells them. I rolled out with a new replacement, no more shake, and a better understanding of "computer balancing".

So what's the point? Take a look and see how much weight has been slapped on, and don't always assume that your wheels are balanced just because they have been... ...balanced. lol
