Another Side Marker Mod Advantage

I'm not sure if this has been noted before, but.....

I have my car lock feature set to flash lights, instead of the horn.
Now with the side marker signal mod, the side markers flash as well (when car is locked), giving a better visual indication.

Re: Another Side Marker Mod Advantage

That is a good tip.

I hate the horn, so I always have to be in front (or back) of the car to check.

Thanks!

Re: Another Side Marker Mod Advantage

there is a DIY... i kinda like having the horn cause i can lock my car from inside of my house or friends houses and know that it locked... and the other day at sonic an old man walked by my car... stopped walked back... looked at the badges and was staring when i hit the horn and made him jump about 2 feet in the air ahaha

Re: Another Side Marker Mod Advantage

This is one feature I miss about my honda. My 01 accord didn't beep the horn when you locked the doors with the fob unless you pressed it a second time within 3 seconds. That way you have both options available to you at all times. Sometimes I want the horn, other times it isn't wanted or needed.

Re: Another Side Marker Mod Advantage

I really don't like the horn...it's a little too loud.
I would like an audible as well as lights but would rather have a couple of chirps.

Re: Another Side Marker Mod Advantage

there is a way to have both. just point the key fob at the car and press and hold the lock and unlock button at the same time to swtich modes. without the horn, you will know it's locked when the lights flash twice

"there is a way to have both"
----------
Well...that really wasn't the point of this thread.
It's just that many of us don't like the loud horn & with the turn signal mod it gives us better visual indication.
I would actually prefer an audible annuciation as well, just not the loud horn. I have had other cars that give a nice chirp from a separate unit. My last car chirped & if you locked a 2nd time it chirped & flashed the headlights.

Also there are actually 6 configuation modes available, as follows;
1. Lock = 1H & 2L; Unlock = ~H & 1L
2. Lock = ~H & 2L; Unlock = ~H & ~L
3. Lock = ~H & ~L; Unlock = ~H & ~L
4. Lock = ~H & 2L; Unlock = ~H & 1L
5. Lock = 1H & 2L; Unlock = ~H & ~L
6. Lock = 1H & ~L; Unlock = ~H & 1L

We can switch between 1 & 2 with the key fob. The others require a code programmer (dealer)

Re: Another Side Marker Mod Advantage

Kinda off the subject thread but related.....
I just got around ot doing the blinker mod today and I went in thru the top side instead of all that fender well & wheel mess.
I just removed the air box (easy) and took one bolt out of the overflow bottle to get it out of the way.
Wires were right there......Piece of cake....took all of 30 min.

Re: Another Side Marker Mod Advantage

Now that is a great tip. I have been waiting to have time to pull the wheels or peel back the liner, but that would be much easier. I think I will try it this weekend.

Re: Another Side Marker Mod Advantage

Interesting...never thought of going in that way.
It would save jacking & pulling wheels.

When I did mine I had the wheels off anyway for caliper painting so I did the blinker mod @ the same time
