3000 miles and 4 quarts........

4 Quarts of oil missing from the engine. This is the second consecutive oil change that has left me with oil missing. My mechanic sees nothing leaking so I'm thinking seals are shot somewhere. The G has 30k on it and I have been running synthetic ever since the 3rd oil change. So I'm gonna take her to the dealer and have them fix it but is there anything that I need to worry about before I talk to them. For instance I know that the manual says to use dino oil but I also know that synth should'nt even be an issue so do i need to worry about the synthetic in the engine? Also I assume my PoP-Charger won't be an issue but should I worry about that.

Finally has anyone else been burning oil and had the problem resolved. I see this as being a long drawn out process.

Thanx for any input guys

There are several 350z owners who have had this issue. I think you'll have to go through the process where you have the oil changed by the dealership, drive around for 1K miles or so and have them check it. I think some of the guys had their engines replaced for that kind of oil loss.

You have a problem that the delaer should acknowledge.
I have the 2003 5AT with 43K miles on her. It does not burn
or leak oil. Demand a new engine!

I'm calling the dealer today and starting the process. By the way it was about 3 quarts burned not 4.

Do I have to pay the dealer for all the oil changes that it is gonna take to diagnose the problem? That wouldn't be cool...

They need to do a full compression check on that engine. Hopefully you have all oil change service reciepts. You will need them for warrantee coverage. Also, what weight oil were you using? Hopefully not 20W/50 or 15W/50 racing type oils. The VQ has very tight tolerances and thick oils dont flow everywhere they need to soon enough. Use 5W/30 only, or 10W/30 at the most and only in the summer.

I use 5w30. And as far as having all reciepts for oil changes I think that is crap I have my mechanic at work do all the oil changes for free why would I keep the reciepts? I'll be pretty bent if thta is the case. I honestly barely have the time to deal with this as is so it better not be a pain in the a$$ to deal with. I better give them a call and get the ball rolling Grrrrr. I really hate warranty repairs

You don't need reciept for the oil change, just the oil and filter cost. If your getting free oil too, just take a picture of the change for proof.
