timing belt went? tech help.

was cruising on the highway at about 50-60.
then when im about to get off the exit the slip and vdc light come on as i slow down all lights go on. soon as i pulled over and came to a complete stop, car stalled.

tried starting it, all it did was crank really fast but would not start.
checked all the fluids all mechanical everything is fine.

read ecu codes and came up with

exhaust valve control solenoid circuit control bank 1+2
cmp
camshaft position sensor
a circuit bank 2

so i had infiniti roadside come get it. that was actually the best infiniti experience ive ever had with anything from infiniti. called them took my info gave location tow truck came in 10 mins everything was covered..so far.

so just went to the dealer this morning, and the service manager was the only one available
can i help u, i told him who i was.
and hes like what happened so i told him.
he said something in the engine broke, either the camshaft or timing.
so he just had me sign the paperwork and on it i saw had written down has intake and exhaust and grounding wires. once they lift the car they will find the cats and the pulley.
and it said that camshaft or timing will not spin.

i had the camshaft position sensors replaced 4 or 5 times already. they kept going bad. or i kept breaking it but i dont know how.

so he said they are just waiting on the techs to get back to them to see what to do.

so my guess is the timing belt went.

i know the first thing they come up with is HI ITS NOT WARRANTIED.
from what i know the pulley cranks the serpentine belt so nothing that i did to the car would affect the timing belt.

any help and suggestions from anyone.
thanks in advance

Sorry to hear about your issues. The G35 has a timing chain though, not a belt, so I doubt that would be your problem. GL

+1. I've never heard of a timing chain breaking.

If your timing chain broke, that would be the first one I have heard about.

those codes could just be a domino effect of your cam sensor going out. could also be a bad crank sensor as the car wont start without that also.

just tell us what the dealer says. you dont have much choice but to get it fixed at the dealer. Ya, good luck getting it warrantied.

Suby,

when was the first time that the cam sensor went out? I ask because the stock crank pulley is also a harmonic dampener. I know you have your redline set higher as well.

Timing chains generally don't break and you'd be the first one for a G35 that I've heard of if yours is toast. There are however, some tensioners that keep the belt on track. Those can go and when they do they can cause issues. Your car is too new to really have that.

I know this is an old thread, but I can guess your Harmonic balancer came off. That's what mine did and gernaded the motor as well.
Seems to be slightly common on some of our less fortunate engines.
