Hey guys, yet again I have found another issue with my car! haha, its not like i have any major one's but you know how the small sounds and small problems is what hurts the most?

Anyway, I don't mind the sound, it's kind of cool, but if it is a bad thing I want to deal with it now that I have some cashflow.


While driving at a certain point where the throttle is open about half way, i hear a whistle sound that is like a spooling turbo kind of. It is so weird but I can't pinpoint where its coming from. Any clue's guys?

i have the same (issue?) but im pretty sure its nothing, when i got my new intake installed i herd it and more-so when i got my spacers installed, from my understanding, its all the extra air being brought into the engine when you hit the gas.

my car also does it when i just hit the gas from idol, or like you said midrange to high rpms.

if this is a problem, someone tell me(us)!

OP, do you have an aftermarket intake? If yes, then it is normal. It comes with the induction or air at about 2.5-3k rpm range.

 

Do you have any aftermarket parts period?? Tough to say what it is without knowing if a part you have is causing it or we are dealing with a mech issue on a stock engine

 

Yeh a few things added nothing from the induction side of things besides a cone filter, but this all started when i got the car, and it was stock...but no big deal if its not a big issue than its not a big issue, i like it :P

everytime i drive, it whistle like hell, and people pull beside me and ask "is ur car boosted?"
i nodd my head and say, i dunno, is it?

 

I love the whistle of my popcharger/ztube combo... BTW, totally normal if aftermarket intake.

 

My Stillen CAI doesn't do that, maybe I should poke a hole in it or somethin'...

 

try welding a BOV to it, see if that works! lol

 

Conical intakes make this sound.

 

I have this whistle noise also but no intake mods, but ive gotten use to it so it sounds normal to me lol......although if anybody knows what causes this noise i wouldn't mind fixing mine

 

maybe one of your friends snuck over in the middle of the night and installed a turbo to mess with you. the sound may go away in a week. wait it out.

 

yeh like i was saying before: before i had my intake installed the only other mod I had was my lowering springs out of a Z....and it was still happening then..

I dont think it is my intake although I have no clue what it IS.
I wish i did know though, maybe I would fix it as well.

It only happens at a certain throttle point like when I floor it, it doenst happen, it seems to be like a little less than half throttle...maybe its my throttlebody? I'm no good at diagnosing problems. haha
