a couple short ram questions

just a couple quick questions before i decide to open my fujita f5 short ram box up and throw away being able to return it.

1. are there any negatives to having a short ram intake over my stock intake system?

2. is there a chance that anything could go wrong with it once its installed?
i.e. heat soaking and stuff like that i should be worried about?

3. am i going to get any real gains in horsepower or gas mileage? or is it just going to sound cool

thanks

It is pretty difficult to out design oem engineers when every vehicle is ALREADY pressurized by Earth's atmosperic pressure of 14.7 psi at sealevel forcing air into engine.
The entire weight of atmosphere is trying to force air into engine to replace that pumped [by heat expansion] out the exhaust.

Measure the before and after INSIDE PLENUM PRESSURE to see what you have gained just as engineers do everyday.

Most intakes including Air filter, MAF, tubing , throttle body lose 0.7 psi MAX from atmosphere to plenum at WOT and redline less at 4,000 rpm usually ~~ 0.25 psi.

Engineers like myself use finer measurement to increase resolution and accuracy. I have test equipment
that resolves to 0.1" Water column ~~ 1/277 of a single psi or 0.00361 psi

One should know that a single PSI represents 6.8% of air flow so 0.7 psi is 4.75%...............changing [reducing loss] even 1% is difficult and that represents 3HP at best.

Many get FOOLED by leaning A/F ratio which removes safety and almost always increases power at the expense of reliability and long term durability.
