Drove through water...trouble...please advise

So I drove through some unexpectedly deep water. For about 3 seconds it came about half way up the hood of my G35. Now the idle is off, the engine light is one, the FDC light is on and the SLIP light is on. Also, I can smell something burning, like oil or fuel.

While that's all terrible, It seems to drive fine. I only drove it about 1 mile(carefully because of the VDC) but it seemed fine..

What could be wrong? Hydrolock? ECU shorting out? Please advise.

Thanks.

I know an ECU is only like a $200 repair, but hydrolock might be a bigger expense? Do you think it really could be?

Just went back out and turned the car on.

VDC and SLIP lights went out and the idle is back to normal. No smell either.

I'm going to try to flash the ECU and see if I can get the engine light to turn off.

If I flash it and the engine light goes out and stays out. Problem fixed? I sleep easy?

Disconnect the battery. Pop the hood if you have a garage. Remove MAF and let dry. Hit MAF elements with some electrical connector spray. Check oil and see if there's water in it. Does the oil look milky. Avoid driving the car for a couple of days if you can to let all the water get out of all the nooks and crannys. Water in connectors can lead to shorts and weird driveability issues.

+1.

Make sure all fluids are normal.

Do a ECU reset...just disconnect battery for 12+ hours.

Sorry to bring back an old thread. I had to cross through a lake yesterday to get to work.

No lights or issues or smells, but I will be checking my rad fans for cracks.

Anyone know where (how high really) the breathers are for the diffs and t case? Should I be changing all of these fluids again too?
