Need some Advice...New V2 Break-In

I know there are many opinions on how to properly break in an engine... Drive it HARD or drive easy for the first 1000 miles. I am picking up my 2005 Sedan today with a new engine installed and want to be sure I properly break in the engine.

Are there any owners out there who have NOT had the Oil Consumption issue (05-06 6MT's) who are the original owners? How did you break in your G? Any ideas, tips, etc would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your ideas!

I think you should break in a new motor like you would break in a virgin girl. Hard as you possibly can, but check lube often.

Drive it at constant varying engine speeds for the first.....50-100 as much as possible. Over time increase load and RPMS After that you should be good.

ur pistons rings will seat within the first 25-50 miles of driving, beat the **** out of it. i had my I30 from 30 miles - 180k 80k of those miles sprayed with nitrous on an auto trans vehicle with a valve body. everyone gets so crazy when it comes to breaking in engines, these arent motors from the 50's with casting left over in them. drive it normal, get oil changed, move on. no need to obsess. its the same with letting your car warm up in the morning for a long period of time. i did that with that i30 too...like i said 180k and it was still running when i sold it

Thanks folks. I was just curious what you all do to break in your engines...as it seems there are two very strong contrasting opinions. I was hoping that if I properly break this engine in, I wouldn't have any further OC issues.

hard accelerations but don't overrev. It is not the tension in the rings that push them against the cylinder walls, it is the pressure in the combustion chamber that does. Making the engine work hard puts the pressure on the rings and they will mate to the cylinder walls faster and more completely.

1st oil change at 50 or no more than 100 miles, again at 750, and again at 1500. After that you can go back to 3k or more changes.

Just as personal preference I ran dino until about 4500 then went synth

I followed the hard break-in method with my V2 motor, and after 2 years, the motor is still solid.

On the TSB is says not to run the car over 4000rpm for the first 1200 miles and not to accelerate at full throttle.... what to you guys think of that?
