Castrol Edge Analysis results

I thought I was at 3k but I looked at the mileage on my last infiniti service and its actually been 5k miles so I changed out the oil (I'm using a bigger filter now from the FX, thanks to Tim for the tip). Castrol claims 15K 1yr protection...

Castrol Edge 5W-30 5,000 miles on the oil, 41k on the car. They suggested I try the next one at 7,500. I'm guessing the excess silicon is due to dusty Arizona climate and also infiniti replaced the gasket on the oil pan right before the change. TBN was 3.1.

Nice TBN number. The silicone might be from your stillen intake. They use a K&N filter that's not the greatest for filtration. Might considering going with a revup oem airbox or fitting an Amsoil synthetic cone on there and compare silicone on the next change. If it's down at 7,500 miles then you know the filter is superior.

I'm using a UTR carbon fiber intake and there have been quite a few dust storms recently. I like the sound of the aftermarket vs the stock box.

If you live in a high dust area, a paper or foam filter will block more dirt than a gauze/oil type.

Is it that harmful? I like my intake and the filter is part of it I cant get rid of it without ditching the entire thing. The only paper/foam filters I've seen are for OEM type boxes.
