Re: Gurgen's dyno numbers?

Gurgen, your take of my first post is exactly how I meant it. My second post was out of anger because people had to jump down my throat right away. I have been reading all the informative posts about the people who took the plunge and went TT. It just pissed me off to have people write back who have no idea what they're talking about. So my second post was out of anger and you took it the wrong way. There is no way in the world I would buy the Greddy kit after all the problems I see people are having. I was turned off when I found out about relocating the air bag sensors and removing the front support beam. I was however interested in the PE kit, the JWT kit, and now possibly the APS kit. I am actually leaning towards JWT because of their reputation on Nissan's. But the PE kit is still a possibility to me while the Greddy definitely isn't. So once again, Gurgen, you took my posts the wrong way. I am in no way starting trouble, I'm just curious. But I guess curiosity killed the cat.

Re: Gurgen's dyno numbers?

ok, well lets put this behind us and move on. Good luck on your choice... however, just make sure that you are willing to go "out of the box" as with any other kit with JWT to make some SERIOUS power, as it will only be a 400crank hp setup (320-330 wheel hp). Still, not too shabby, and JWT makes some decent stuff, that's for sure. But look at the WHOLE picture. Do they include bigger injectors, what kind of fuel system, etc. APS seems to be an absolutely kicka$$ kit (the $$ sign pun intended). But as anything else, it had got it's pros and cons.

Re: Gurgen's dyno numbers?

I know the JWT is only about 330hp to the wheels but that's only because they claim pushing the car further than that is not reliable on the stock motor. I know a lot of people are pushing it way passed that but nobody knows how long that will last. I am paranoid and right now I want to run the car safely with boost and JWT claims that they are giving an ecu flash with their kit. So for future upgrades they said you can get another ecu flash once you do other work to run the car at a higher boost reliably. Maybe JWT is setting it a little on the low side like you said, but like you know, they are well known for their work on Nissan's and I think nobody knows Nissan motors better than them. A few of my friends with 300zx's have said nothing but great things about Jim Wolf's products. However, the APS kit does look nice. How is the traction in your car? I don't understand why people want all this hp if they can't use it anyway. From what I read on the my350z board, everybody says they can't get any traction at all. Hopefully you're having better luck.

Re: Gurgen's dyno numbers?

welll.... i am not sure about "nobody knows Nissan motors better than them". BUt be that as it may.

As far as traction goes, i do get much better traction as i have an AT; there is no driveline shock and thus much better chance to keep the tires to the ground. Also, I am still running on crappy tires.

My point about the low hp and running reliably is that, even though you are correct about longevity, if you do not want to go above 320 whp, you can go with a supercharger for much, much less than JWT's (or any one else's) twin turbo kit. THe bragging rights are not worth it IMO.

Re: Gurgen's dyno numbers?

Yeah I hear what you're saying about the 330hp not being much. I don't want to go with the supercharger route because I would like to eventually build up my motor. So I was thinking for now, the 330hp is fine, do some work to the car and then JWT says they will have reflashes to turn up the boost. I don't like the way a supercharger sounds anyway. But I am also interested in the PE kit so I may still go that route. The APS kit sounds good but is making me a bit nervous because they seem to be going for all out power and I can't afford to blow any rods right now. With my luck that will happen to me. I don't know remember what you said before, how many pounds do you plan on running your car as a daily driver again?

Re: Gurgen's dyno numbers?

Im not that sure, but i think he will be doing daily driving on low boost at 4.3 lbs of boost and high at the track or wherever he needs it at 8lbs.. Don;t quote me but that's what i think i saw or just made up and think what he's doing lol!! Man i want a tubo, gurgen i ran a s2000 last night and he was like omg that thing can move for a sedan, it also sounds so crazy not like every other g35, what do you have a supercharger?? I was like haha, i wish!!

Re: Gurgen's dyno numbers?

hey martin

you are right, i keep my boost contrller off @daily-driving (so i a at 4.3 psi), but can turn it up at will. I have so far gone to 7.5 psi max (once to 10.5 psi by accident - thank god i had J&S to watch my back).

Re: Gurgen's dyno numbers?

Dd oyu happen to read my 3 turbos comparison? I sugeest you spend about 30minutes with it, that will answer a lot of questions.

Also, TS has been doing that for 18 months now, flashing the ECUs that is. So, b/c JWT will do that for higher boost is nothign special for me. Also, i doubt JWT will customize the flash for YOUR car, which maybe responsible for a few ponies (and probably not significant for N/A) and needed for safety.

I would love to get the 530BB compession map from JWT. That would be good to see.

Re: Gurgen's dyno numbers?

Yea gurgen, i thought that's what you would be running at. You put it up to 10.5?? LOL how did that go? Do you think that would casue big damage also? And what would you need to get it to run successfully at that high boost? Sry for all the ?'s lol. Also post a link of your other thread with the turbo kit comparisons. Again, from what you are saying with other kits not making a custom flash exaclty for your car, PE is the top TT kit choice with GREAT numberss!!!
