Guys,

So I tried and bought the Dorman part 911503, no luck. I still have the SES light on for the same code.

I also went and got a OEM new gas cap and no luck. Still the same issue.

What is next?

Would I have to buy the Vapor Canister Purge Valve, Rock Auto has price of $105.79. (STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS CP743 Intermotor Solenoid)

 

According to the FSM that is the 3rd component to inspect/replace. Sucks that it's $100 bucks though.

Can you test the one on your car first? I tested my EVAP purge solenoid that I replaced and it was pretty obvious it was bad when I applied 12V+

 

That stinks that you are having issues chasing this one down. I didn't change the valve in the engine bay, just replaced the gas cap and changed the one down by the evap canister. Good to know there may be more to P0455!

 

I'll have to get it checked, not really that mechanically inclined.

Not really. In my case it was the valve at the rear of the car...so I never got that far.

Page 426 shows some of the troubleshooting steps. It's located on the rear of the intake on the passenger side.

 

Hey I'm also running into this same engine code but I'm confused by this- the $40 part from Rockauto is for the vent valve (rear of vehicle) but you mention that fixing the purge valve (under the hood) fixed it. I think that part is around $80-90 on Rockauto. Did you mean the this part? I'm about to buy the purge valve because it seems that is the official part associated with this engine code (not sure why everyone keeps pointing to the vent valve since that is under a different code). Would like to confirm if possible- thank you!

 

Nissan/Infiniti issued a warranty extension last year on the Evap system for first gen G's, stretched it to 15 years/150K miles mainly due to problems with filling the gas tanks on a lot of models. It applies even if you're not the original owner and they are still honoring that. Our 05 sedan is 14 years old at this point and 147K miles on the odometer and we took it in a little over a month ago to have the work done. I was the second owner, bought it in 09, and they managed to find me to mail me the letter explaining the change. They had it done in a day and didn't cost us a penny so check your local Infiniti dealer before you spend any money fixing your issue.

 

Wow I didn't know that, thanks I will look into it. I have a 2006 and less than 100K so I think I definitely fall into that group. Although I haven't experienced the hard-to-fill issue this TSB relates to, so I'm not sure if it will also be related to issues with the evap purge valve that code P0455 is connected with. Did you also experience any issues with this code?

 

Yep we threw the P0455 code, didn't seem to affect the car though when it came up. We would very occasionally have the hard to fill issue and told them that was why we brought it in. The Infiniti dealership here was aware of the extended warranty and fixed the car no questions asked.

 

^ did u ask what was replaced or looked up the recall? theyre only replacing the little hose. not the valve

 

5 years late but dude, you’ve completely contradicted the process to your fix more than once. At first you said the new canister vent solenoid ($40) didn’t fix the problem, so the the vapor canister “purge” solenoid/valve ($100) was the solution and that it’s located under the hood.

then you say it was the canister vent solenoid that fixed the problem by posting the part number for it when someone asked which part they needed to buy.

And finally when someone asks again, you say the part you needed to change was located in the rear of the car, which is contrary to the fact you stated the canister purge was the fix, in which that part is under the hood as you described.

pretty useless thread imo. Nobody seemed to give a definitive answer for a solution but this one by mustang was very misleading, though likely unintended. I really wonder what part he actually replaced lmaoooo

 

Can confirm that the vent valve fixed my p0455 immediately without even needing to clear the code. The $17 Amazon part is working just fine.
