rev limiter?

All cars have a rev limiter unless you have changed the ECU.

Downshifting when you are already close to redline will allow you to blow up your motor if that is what you are going for.

not all cars have rev limiters, all new ones do

So don't like stock cars have some security incase you miss shift?

um they could lock you out of the gear the way they do with reverse, but ive never heard of that. when you misshift the speed of the car forces the engine to rev to whatever rpm it it is going to be at in the gear you are selecting, like so:


if you put an rsx-s into 2nd around 80mph you land at 11000 rpms or so. same goes for any other car. nothing the car can do to stop it aside from not letting you rev higher(and blowing up in that guys case..lol)

ok, i have a question. i have a 06 coupe and my rev light doesnt blink when its time to shift. it just stays solid. is that a problem?

lol i havent had my g for every long but, when it starts blinking its telling you to shift, then when it turns solid it basically is saying ok you can shift already...

that light is user customizable... basically set it to an RPM limit you want to shift at and it'll blink red when its getting close and then go solid after you've passed it.


Change it by cycling to the 3rd number on your trip meter
