Re: Hotchkis Problems and Solutions

going in today - i'll be there this time. The dealer suggested they were installed wrong but after reading the directions they did a good job with all but the lube that was missing from the box. And they could have tightened things down better

DHolly,

I know what various grease fittings look like but I don't what a zerk is. Could you describe in more detail what you would recommend for the application. I will be purchasing the Stillen sways...which I know don't have anything but stock bushings.

In Theory, practice and theory are the same.

Re: Hotchkis Problems and Solutions

Zerks are grease fittings that look like little nipples. You use the grease gun on them.

Re: Hotchkis Problems and Solutions

To anyone installing the sways themselves, do yourself a favor and get an impact wrench if you don't have one.

As with any hardware open to the elements, the nuts holding the original sways on can be a bear to get off. WD40 and PBBlaster can help a little, and I mean a little, but even if you do get enough leverage on the wrench, stripping a nut is a real possibility.

Re: Hotchkis Problems and Solutions

guys who are running the sways on an otherwise stock suspension - what settings are you running them on? I was thinking of running med. front and full stiff rear to try to kill some of the understeer...

I'm going to be installing these this weekend - anything else I need to know beforehand?

Re: Hotchkis Problems and Solutions

If I remember correctly, Hotchkis recommends starting with the stiffest setting in the front and the softest in the rear for our car.

I would recommend all of the things already mentioned.
Impact wrench and plenty of lube, what comes packaged isn't enough.

Re: Hotchkis Problems and Solutions

That's backwards [for consumer liability] if anything the front oem sway bar is too hard [what causes the understeer in the first place].

Start with rear medium and front softest.........if you end up with rear stiffest then front at medium-------always use the least amount of front bar that doesn't allow significant oversteer in wet.

Remember what is correct in warm dry conditions will be dangerous in cold wet conditions!
You really need adjustable bars with inside [in cabin] controls to compensate for conditions and fuel level changes IF you want precise control.

Yeah - make it and I'll buy one - will that be thousands or hundreds of thousands to install?

Re: Hotchkis Problems and Solutions

I am living proof of what Q45Tech said: My G is running with medium on the back and soft on the front. Best setup with TEIN H-TECH springs!!!

Re: Hotchkis Problems and Solutions

Thanks guys - in the next month or so, I'm also going to be installing RS*R springs (the 350Z ones) so I'll have to adjust them again because of the changes the springs will have on the suspension (nothing made specifically for the G is stiff enough for what I want, without going full coil-overs) - I think the spring rates are 345 front, 417 rear - How will this affect the settings I need to run the swaybars at?

Re: Hotchkis Problems and Solutions

Does the medium settings resemble the factory locations of the OEM bars? Would this be any different from stock?

Re: Hotchkis Problems and Solutions

For those of you with the hotchkis installed.....does the rear bar have the same "curves" as the stock rear bar? I'm asking because I got the Greddy Evo2 and I dont wanna get the bar then find out it runs into the can or something.....
