Help with camshaft position sensor
more codes popping up for camshaft postion sensor
After replacing the sensor on the rear drivers side... now the CEL is on agian... along with VCD and Slip light...
same codes (3 of the same) were showing... now its saying replace Bank 1
previously, when i checked the first time with the rear sensor the guy guessed i think. so now its a fun game of replacing sensors.
are there 4 cam sensors? 2 front 2 rear?

YourKuh: did you ever get this fixed? I had the same problem, replaced the correct sensor according to the code, and it didn't solve my problem, have heard about it being caused by the crankshaft sensor as well, but have not tried replacing it still
I did actually... i had replaced the pass side sensor, and STILL had issues...
i went back to the dealer i bought it from and was told that sensor was still throwing codes... it was determined that the new sensor was in fact BAD, after replacing it, yet again... ALL issues went away.
no more HARD starts, no random stalling, nothing.

you would think the CRANK sensor would have a diffrent code, not sure. that would be good info to know if it is related with the same code.
OH, just remembered, the aka NEW sensor had trouble accepting the wiring harness plug. when compared with its replacement, on top of the sensor where it would click on (shaped like a "T") they were different sizes. the replacement had a larger "T" clip on it. and the plug snapped right into place. so... hold on to any old sensors to compare EVERYTHING... and watch out for "Duralast" Sh*t.

Ya, i think there is a good chance that the new sensor is not working, the crank sensor does have a different code (335), but in the g service manual it says it is often hard to diagnose a 340 as it can be the cam sensor, but could also be caused by the crank sensor
well i finally got around to replacing the crankshaft position sensor yesterday, didn't fix a thing! I bought my replacement camshaft sensor from autozone, i might try buying an OEM part this time...
Yourkuh: did you just take it to the dealer to test? How much did they charge you?

So I did finally get around to buying the part from the dealer. Put it in, and waalah! Car is starting fine now, and no codes since (been over a week). It's amazing how much quicker the install was the second time around.

So what did you end up replacing. I'm getting the same codes as of two days ago and been trying to figure it out. The car won't even go above 2500 rpms. it hits that mark and just extreme loss of power down to 2000 then the power comes back. Did you also get codes P0011 or P0021 for the cam position actuators? I'm getting those as well as the P0340. Don't know if we have the same problem or something different.
