I was trying to hardwire my radar detector into the dome light circuit as seen in a DIY on this site? I hooked up the positive to the red/black and the ground to the black as stated in the DIY? Now, not only is there no power to the radar detector, but the dome/map lights do not work at all? Also, the door lights and the light around the ignition are out as well? My first though was that I popped a fuse, but after checking every fuse in both fuse boses, there is no one that is popped? Please help, this is a big mystery to me? Thanks in advance

Sounds like you blew a fuse....

Check them all with an ohm meter and pull them out of the socket. Make sure the car is off and the key is out of the ignition though before you start. I'll look in my service manual and see if I can find anything else...

I checked every fuse in both the fuse boxes (the passenger compartment and under the hood)? There is no fuse marked "interior lights"? There are fuses for the trunk light, stop light, cigarette lighter, power outlet, etc., this in itself has me a bit mystified? None of the fuses were blown? Your help is greatly appreciated, I am no master of car electronics, but I do know a thing or two at the same time. Let me know if you come up with something, because at this point, I have no idea where to go?

According to the service manual there is a fuse box on the drivers side, in the kick panel area. It should be around the bcm. It doesn't show a fuse box on the passengers side though, do you have a coupe or sedan?

don't shoot the messenger...but way back when, i remember a discussion where it was stated that the dome lights/interior lights are not fused!

Does your radar detector still work if you plug into cig lighter?
Does your dome light work if you unhook the wires from the radard detector?
Is your potentiometer off? (your dimmer)

Kpierson: Yeah, the fuse box is right next to the dead pedal on the drivers side, sorry, when I said "passenger compartment", I did not mean passenger side.

Catatafish: Yes, the radar detector does work fine through the cig outlet. Everything is unhooked and back to the way it originally was. Yes, I tried the dome light switch on/off many times, and the door lights and the ignition light are out as well?

Forgot to memtion that the vanity visor light do not work either? This has to be a circuit related issue, I am just stumped and cannot trace a fix? I really need someones help! Here are a few pics to better understand

take it to the dealer, but dont tell them you were installin the radar detector.
