Exclamation Same problem: 5th Gear is shot (only 5th!!) Auto/Tiptronic G35 2003

Hi, I have the same issue and I've been quoted $2500 to repair 5th gear (transmission). Did anyone else have this issue and found out that something else fixes it?

It started off slow then I took it in, got the transmission fluid and filter changed, then it slipped all of the time (goes to neutral when over 60mph or shift into 5th using Tiptronic shift).

I still haven't figured out why. Could be torqueconverter, valve body , or the clutch in the trans. Still not sure

My car is doing the same thing at normal speeds - slips into neutral or downshifts when it's supposed to go into 5TH Gear. Infiniti dealership ran codes and drove it and said that "5th gear is shot." Any other fixes known before I spend $2500 for rebuilt transmission? Already changed the transmission oil/filter first.

I would suggest the problem is with fluid level, but if that is correct and you still have slippage it is most likely due to worn clutches for 5th gear, since the other gears do not exhibit this problem. If you are local in the bay area, I have an extra g35 transmission with about 80k miles on it...

I would not recommend AAMCO for various reasons, and I believe most people on this forum will support that recommendation I will you a PM with the rest of the details and who I would recommend for the repair.
